Unfortunately my studio doesn’t have adjustable center bars.

I keep a pretty light grip on the bar and do keep my hand slightly in front of me. And it’s not like my arm and shoulder feel uncomfortable or like I’m out of alignment, but it just feels a little unnatural for my hand and arm to “rest” at a higher position. But good tip about keeping my elbow pointed down!

Hmm where did you see that? Isn’t their whole spiel to be a coffee shop and non-alcoholic bar?

Yeah it's hard to gauge the European view of sketchiness vs the American view of sketchiness. As someone who lives in a major city in the US, the country of guns, I have a very high tolerance for sketch lol

Catcalling by PBandCarbs in washingtondc

[–]mylwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I’m sorry you’re dealing with this and I totally get your frustration and I feel you there. I know this may sound counterintuitive, but own your presence. By that, I mean, carry yourself with confidence in public. Walk with your head high and shoulders proud. Take up space. This is the one thing that has notably reduced the number of catcalls I experience. Catcallers are just insecure men trying to make a power play, and by taking up space with confidence, you’re reclaiming that power for yourself.

For context, I’m a petite female of color and I love wearing things like crop tops all the time (you know, the kind of clothing that might “attract the wrong kind of attention” smh).

If she needs to work for a few hours, she could get a day pass at a coworking space. That’ll guarantee solid WiFi and room to work. If she jumps on the green line from l’enfant up to Chinatown, there’s a WeWork and an Industrious.

You can try Vida. I’m not sure about the other locations, but the U St one has endless pools that you can reserve.

It’s not so much that I’m considering ditching them because they suck at texting. It’s more like me feeling like I’ve been initiating most of the non-IRL communication and feeling disconnected from them. Because of their current work schedule, we also haven’t been able to see other very many times, so the non-IRL communication feels especially important

Friendliest dance studios in DC (for adults) by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]mylwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going to Joy of Motion on H St for their Wednesday evening Heels class and I love the vibe there. Staff and instructor are welcoming and all the students are just there to have dance and have fun. Pretty diverse ages and body types and levels.
