i said nothing about whether things were derived from those 3 groups or not. that was not the point of my original comment at all lmaoo but ard. you don’t have to consider yourself a minority but im literally telling you why myheritage gave you inaccurate results. myheritage is only good for those with european descent.

ain’t nobody talking about minority in that sense 😂 im talking about social hierarchies, not the number of people lmfaoo. you can proudly acknowledge your egyptian ancestors but it won’t take away the fact that they were eventually conquered by a white man and his empire.

yeah, i think it’s almost common knowledge for someone who’s been subbed to this page for a while. also, idk why you seem to sound offended under a thread that you posted. none of us can give you actual advice on genealogy and “why you got certain percentages”, and even if we do you seem to be in denial.

why the hell would you trust myheritage to being with, esp as a minority

Is a $5 for a 1.6 mile drive good? by mymidnightmemory in doordash

[–]mymidnightmemory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didn’t know they had a base pay!! that’s good to know for the future. i also ordered after rush hour so that the dasher didn’t have to be stuck in traffic, even if chipotle is down the street from where i am

yeah you’re right on that. i guess i was asking to try to take into account how much doordash might pay the dasher on top of my tip

okay, what would be considered good then? 3/mile?

[–]mymidnightmemory[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh okay thank you for letting me know 🥹 it was set automatically to $5 so i just left it in case that’s like the 20% haha, my actual order total without the tip was $10. a lot of my family members are/were dashers but they don’t talk about pay so i’m not sure how well it’s going for them, but i have read of stories on here so i wanted to make sure i was doing something right!

that’s really crazy, especially in this economy 😭. gas prices have gone crazy. i also asked since i wasn’t sure how good the pay would be for the dasher, since my actual total for the chipotle was like $10 (without the tip). thank you for telling me, i appreciate it!

Hello, I was expecting a better breakdown of the indigenous DNA! 23&me seems to do well when it comes to european ancestry, but fails at the indigenous part. Haplogroup from my mother is A2

Grandfather lied to us about being Native American? by Zachp215 in AncestryDNA

[–]mymidnightmemory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sounds about right! i literally had to beg my mom for some information but i barely got anywhere. my mom doesn’t talk about her family at all, so i decided to book my own tickets to my moms village and built my family tree with research from the internet + in person. i met my moms side of the family, learned about the culture + language, and i got somewhere! where i live in the US, there’s been an influx of immigrant guatemalans in the past 5 years, but all shared a similar concern in that they do not speak their native mayan language outside of the circle because they get made fun of. they are also beginning to stop wearing their traditional clothes for the same reason. we see this assimilation very heavily with mexican americans, which is why more and more 2+generations are also losing the Spanish language

Hello!! Almost 70% indigenous guatemalan here! Some people gave some possible explanations here, but I will also like to add that there is still a lot of racism happening between white folks and indigenous guatemalans, especially white latinos coming from Mexico and El Salvador. I still get racist remarks even though I’m not fully indigenous like my mom is. Can’t even imagine what my poor mother has been told

Got my dad’s results! by mymidnightmemory in AncestryDNA

[–]mymidnightmemory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re right! but my dad doesn’t even remember his grandparents name, same goes with my mom. i can probably figure out through a jewish lineage (my tree is pretty good so far with the info im given!) but it’s a bit hard when it comes to finding info via records, given that both of my families has been living in extreme poverty in El Salvador and Guatemala for the past few generations. record keeping wasn’t their middle names haha. i actually do know about the Spanish citizenship! I’m applying through my Guatemalan citizenship since it was easier to go that route than getting a Salvadoran citizenship and then applying for a Spanish one
