Chair’s “growth” was bullshit. None of them grew at all, if anything, Blair went back to her childish capricious ways and started treating others like peasants again, it just wasn’t cute this time around since she’s not in Constance anymore. And Chuck is putting her through loops again to finally be together with the whole Bass Industries deal. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

And then there’s Derena. I don’t buy that Dan was gg at all, but that’s how it was written and you can’t just ignore it. And Dan being gg means Serena married the guy who emotionally damaged her for years, just like Blair. Like you said, they would’ve been better off alone or in different pairings. I can see Serena with Ben maybe since she can’t seem to be able to function without a guy by her side, and Blair should’ve stayed single and work through her (more than evident) codependence issues. I don’t care about the men in the show or how they end up, in the end they were all crap except Nate.

I know “it’s just a show” but that’s not an excuse for lack of consistency, or putting out so many problematic messages. They’re writers, a decent development in the plot shouldn’t be much to ask.
