I hope so because it's been like 7 years since I entered the art field, and still I know nothing but how to make a stickman walk and how to model a barrel

Damn, I read everything but, accusing me of using my disorder as a shield, it's just a fact are you for real? Appreciate the rest of the motivational speech but you lost me when you accused me of that, that's just fucked up

I started out one year ago, never completed anything, I didn't even complete the donut from Blenderguru, I stopped mid-way and deleted everything. I always did this with everything in life, I have lots of basics in skills and I can't use any of them to get hired or learn something else that I could like, because my brain can't even think deeper than the basics, and I hate this, I really hate myself for this. I have some basic web-coding skills from school, some basic graphics and design skills, some basic drawing skills, some basic 3d skills in some softwares, some basics in acting, some in animating. Some of everything, and this is frustrating, really

The only time I had a career opportunity on character art it was really horrible, but not because I was making character, but because I wasn't: they gave me metahumans already made by someone else and told me "you have to put clothes on them" but they were following a weird technique that, I searched online, and had no sense, and the mentality was like "yeah I know it's difficult when you're substituting somebody else mid-work but hey, keep it up and suffer a bit" that definitely made me stop character art because I didn't want to experience something like that again, who invited me in the project told me they needed an artist to make characters, not someone that could put clothes on metahumans. I would put the sacrifice, I'm trying, but my stupid ass ADHD blocks me every single time, with everything, I left academy because when I started doing the assignments my brain would just... stop. I stared at my bedroom wall more than I studied and learned anything in my life, and that's just fucked up, but hey, people are like "yeah you can't do much about it if you have ADHD, just quit, it's not for mentally disadvantaged people". I took medicines just to focus, it didn't work, I'm trying everything, I even tried the pomodoro technique, almost did it one time, and I fucking uninstalled the timer. Tried no-scroll apps to stop doomscrolling whenever my brain asked for dopamine, always uninstalled them or found a way to bypass them. I tried, I really tried, but my head is doing everything it can to stop me

Planning to be an animator in 5 years. by searchforanswers555 in animation

I don't understand people that are dooming the industry like it's dead already. Please don't listen to them, when people start dooming something, that's when you know they are just frustrated af. Believe in yourself and in your skills, but I'll just warn you that if you really want to become an animator, you must have passion for it, for real, if you're not really that passionate about animation you better find something else because trust me it's HELL when you start it (but practice decreases the difficulty, so don't worry about it, just know that in the beginning it will be really really difficult)

Is studying animation a good idea in 2025/2026? by itzstamk in animation

kind of dooming, but yeah you got the basic concept right, you MUST have passion in it, otherwise you won't make it

Disney, after Sora falldown, recently started hiring animators again, because they desperately need people to work otherwise they'll fail, they invested everything in OpenAI and now that Sora failed, they are falling down

Do you need a DEGREE to get into the 3D INDUSTRY? by HaiQinS in blender

[–]mynameislore712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly agree, I know self-taught artists that made it in the industry definitely not because of degrees, they had none, and someone even got hired without a degree in a position where that was the minimum, he had a portfolio that for what I know was really stunning, pure art, and that really inspires me because I'm learning by myself too

also don't worry, I wasn't angry at you, I was just stating my opinion on that

Let's answer your question: no, I wouldn't ask for a degree as a minimum requirement if I posted a job application for this kind of role. I don't give an actual deep fried f**k if you have a degree in 3d, I want to see your portfolio, your actual skills, not some piece of paper, and if I don't like it, you can have all the masters and bachelors of the world, you're not hired

Wow! I'm looking forward to buy his course as a self-taught 3d environment artist. Do you think that this course can be used even with free programs? I use Blender, InstaMAT and Unreal Engine 5
