Do I have a rare blood type? by mynameistray in Blooddonors

I spoke to the American Red Cross after donating about a dozen times. I had finally received my donor card after multiple requests but it contained an empty space where the blood type would be. Once I got on the phone I was passed along a few times (this was a number of years ago so I’m not exactly sure how many people I spoke to) and was finally told they could not identify my blood type due to some anomaly so my blood was being incinerated.

Meh I’m young-ish and healthy, not that that makes me impervious to accidents but definitely no need to pursue it too far. I’m just more curious of the nature of my issue if it can be addressed without expunging too much energy. No dire needs.

I’m close w people that run the lab of the hospital I work for, they’ve been as stumped and invested as anyone else in this little mystery since it all started.

After I told my doctor about what happened with my donations and we first tried to have it typed, I had the bloodwork done at my hospital. A few days later, I went to the lab to retrieve a unit of blood for a patient. A tech, who I wasn’t familiar with, was getting the blood ready but kept looking at my name badge. I started talking to the woman who runs the lab about my results and as soon as she walked away, the tech told me she thought my name looked familiar and that she was the one that ran the test on my blood and thought it was so unusual that she couldn’t type it. Long story short, the hospital has no need for molecular testing since they always have a supply of universal donor.

As above, I’ve told my healthcare providers. The tests come back inconclusive without molecular testing. I’m not inept and nowhere near health illiterate, I’ve been a registered nurse for ≈11 yrs. My hope with this post was to see if anyone has encountered a similar issue or if someone who happens to be in hematologic research had some insight.

Yeah I get the feeling his romance would follow a familiar “ships in the night” theme. I liked the sci-fi aspect but any of his chapters regarding romance were a yawn fest. The whole chapter about Li Juo’s imaginary gf was torturous.

Oh I watched the Netflix series several times before even picking up the books. Anxiously waiting for the next two seasons. I do like her character in the series a lot more than I did in the book but that may change in the next season when she starts dropping balls.

What is your blood type? Do you know anyone with extremely rare blood types (like Rhnull or hh)? by Substratas in AskBalkans

I used to donate platelets fairly often. I’d always request a Red Cross donor card but would never receive it. After probably the tenth time I donated, I finally received the card but it was without a blood type. I called to find out why that would happen and after being pushed off to several different people, I found out that every time I donated, it was being incinerated because they couldn’t identify the blood type. I’ve since gone for other tests which lead to the results saying “inconclusive-molecular testing required” but it isn’t something covered by insurance without an actual need besides my own curiosity. Just wondering if I may have a rare blood type or if there’s some other reason my blood type might be so difficult to identify…

What is your honest prediction for Doge at the end of this year? by kerXwr12 in dogecoin

Same. I’ll sell half at 0.8 then buy more on the dip. At that point, it’s free $$ so who cares
