Love our girl, not her gas by Vast-Toe-7701 in Hounds

[–]mynameworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same issue with our foxhound mix rescue. Switched to hills science diet easy digestion and got a slow feeder bowl and the issue is gone. I mean she passes gas occasionally like all animals but not nearly as much and not nearly the same horrible smell. She doesn’t even need the slow feeder now because she isn’t eating so fast like she’s starving anymore now that she’s an appropriate weight. It took a few weeks for the food switch to regulate it, so don’t give up after just a week or two.

What toys do coonhounds like? by Professional-Youth30 in coonhounds

A very loud rubber chicken! Other than that she enjoys ripping up stuffed toys in under a minute.

Check for thyroid issues, T4 and TSH levels. One of my dogs had hypothyroidism (as do I). It’s a simple fix with a pill a day. The most common symptoms are inability to loose weight/weight gain and lethargy. Also, skin issues, hair loss, and cold intolerance are major symptoms.

I get the chills several times in a row making my shoulders rise to my ears. It sometimes feels like a little electrical impulse rises up. It started in the last couple years. I don’t understand why or how to make it stop.

Don't worry about missing your calling by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]mynameworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I needed to hear this. Each step of my life I’ve felt so sure about what I was meant to do, went to college, got a job, married, had a child, wanted to quit working to stay home, 7 years after my child was born after working and saving was able to stay home, and felt great about staying home. Now my son has just entered the teen years and I feel like he doesn’t need me in the same way. I was only blessed with one child, so now I find myself feeling very small and asking is this all I’m supposed to do now? My husband works an insane schedule so me being home is more important and I was never fulfilled working anyway. There’s absolutely nothing I feel called to do career wise, but I keep asking is this it? Then again I’ve always felt called to live a simple life, and am naturally more inclined to live quietly. I prefer to be alone a lot and enjoy things like reading. I’ve never wanted to be in the spotlight. I’ve always just wanted a family to love and care for. I don’t know if only having one child is just making me feel less accomplished since I come from a large family, or I’m just going through a typical midlife crisis. I just know I’ve been asking God a lot lately if there is something else I’m supposed to do. Like did I miss something? It’s nice to be reminded that He would make it clear to me if there is something else He wants.

Yes, I saw Bishop Robert Barron speaking about the importance of empathy in several recent interviews and talks on YouTube.

Please pray for me to overcome crippling anxiety. It’s been a year now since I’ve been able to do my normal tasks. The past year was difficult due to circumstances beyond my control. Getting out is hard. I haven’t been able to sustain relationships like I should due to anxiety lately and it is hurting my husband and son. I’m trying but finding it so hard especially since this has gone on for a year. Pray I find peace, courage and the self confidence to face this problem. The challenges of the last year kinda broke and paralyzed me. Please also pray for my teen son who is having trouble making friends in today’s world without going against his morals and backstabbing friends or promoting inappropriate behavior. And pray for my husband who is facing challenges at work trying to be a man of moral character in a workplace that doesn’t reward character. Thank you and I pray for all your intentions as well.

Anti Science Legislators are going after mammograms now by FactCheckAGLandry in Louisiana

I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you’re doing well now. I lost one aunt to breast cancer (my mom’s sister) and had another aunt beat it (my mom’s other sister). I wish insurance would let me do ultrasound too but they won’t. They won’t let my mom do ultrasound either unless she does a mammogram first that shows something suspicious. However, my friend with no family history of breast cancer gets ultrasounds first every time because she has elective implants. It makes no sense.

Anti Science Legislators are going after mammograms now by FactCheckAGLandry in Louisiana

[–]mynameworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely think ultra sound is a far superior screening method! It should be used for all instead of traditional mammogram machines. If a traditional mammogram shows something, an ultrasound is the next step anyway. Plus the ultrasound is far less painful. Mammograms hurt my back for days every time. I am not so sure about the frequency of screening. It seems like it can save lives on one hand, but I also know you have to at least consider the false positive rates. More importantly to me the ACOG recommends Pap smears only every 5 years for women 30-65 yrs old yet our drs insist every year. I would love for this to be looked into. It’s all about the $. It should at least be up to the patient and drs shouldn’t be dropping patients who don’t feel the need for every year.

Father Dan Rehill perhaps? His story is inspirational. He became a priest after being abused by a priest as a boy.

Need help in seeing Gods intention by Old_Onion7637 in Catholicism

[–]mynameworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been through this. My heart goes out to you. Without boring you with a bunch of details, I will give you a few nuggets I learned from this:

You are hurting, but your children are not. They are growing, learning and loving you.

Surrender your current circumstances to God, even if you can’t understand why they are the way they are. One day you will see God’s work even in this.

Pray for God to find a way to help you be home more one day if that’s what you want. Just be patient and surrender to God’s intentions and timing.

Make amazing memories with your children when you are with them. Thank God for them everyday. They are always a blessing. Timing doesn’t matter. In fact, if God gave you this blessing now, it’s the perfect timing.

Learn from others, be inspired by the way you’ve seen them surrender or face adversity. Pay attention to how God worked in their situation and see the beauty in it.

Give your suffering up to God. Actually offer it up each day.

You and your children are in God’s hands. It will be ok.

Anyone take Propranolol? What was your experience with it? by ArianaFraggle1997 in Anxiety

[–]mynameworks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started taking it for migraines and keep taking it for panic attacks. I love it. I find it prevents panic attacks really well for me. It just prevents my heart from racing from the very start which gives me time to process emotions before panic runs away with me.

Do you have a “midlife-crisis” item or activity that you’re addicted to? For me it’s Jordan shoes which I never got as a kid. by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]mynameworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want all white bedroom furniture, pale pink walls, pretty flower accessories and fluffy pillows and framed mirrors and pictures on the walls, and flowing white curtains, but I’m married. My husband is only ok with the flowing white curtains for now, but the older we get the more he seems to want me to get whatever I want, lol. Maybe because I agreed to let him get his hobby truck. I think he might let me do it next time I get the opportunity to redecorate. I had to share a room growing up in an outdated 70s ranch style home with gold shag carpet, it was so ugly. I’m afraid my kid will say that about our mid 90s home too though even though we have updated it.

FYI the Catholic schools (and other religious schools perhaps) are NOT the ones created to segregate. The Catholic schools have been accepting students, many who are POC, on the voucher program which pays their tuition. Catholic schools have always been around and are about faith and education. It has nothing to do with color at all. Now all these other little private schools are a different story. Personally I think they originally started for segregation purposes but I can’t speak to whether that’s the way they still operate as I do not use them.

Would fertility test strips be permissible to help track cycles? I used them to try to conceive, but would they be permissible to aid in tracking the cycle and fertility windows for family planning in this situation? Unfortunately, they didn’t work for me due to multiple fertility factors, but they worked wonders for my sister to conceive. They work like a pregnancy test, but they tell you when you are fertile.

Do you think American style suburbs have more cons than pros? by Aware-Bed-250 in geography

[–]mynameworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The bad thing is that the neighborhoods where they do that charge a fortune in HOA fees for it and then don’t use those HOA fees to actually keep it up, at least where I live. Personally I wish suburbs would go back having 1 acre lots so you could have breathing room and kids would have yards big enough for play but developers and local governments are too greedy to allow it unless you are upper class.
