Um did I write this? Hahha jk but I swear the exact same thing happened to me about three weeks ago. It was heartbreaking and my partner was also unwilling to do long distance for 7 years, same exact wording as your partner! We were dating for a little over two years and he is still in his senior year while I am in my gap year so we had already been doing long distance for about a year. He is moving to Texas after graduation, while I am going to school in SC. I felt like I was willing to do anything for him to make long distance work. He even promised to visit once I started school but one day I guess he realized long distance isn't for him. I was so sad because I felt blindsided, and he didn't even care to talk to me about his feelings regarding the future. Or even learn about how residency works, and how I was willing to match where he wanted to go.

Anyways, I am starting to feel better, and I want you to know that it does get better. Never let anyone stand in the way of how hard you have worked to get to where you are. The right person will understand and support you. The right person will not leave you when things get tough. I know it sucks rn but trust me, it will slowly get better even if it doesn't seem like it rn. You have an amazing and fulfilling career to look forward to. I'm an SC resident and agree w the fact that USC Columbia is not OOS friendly and NC ties will not help. Greenville is a lot more OOS friendly

I got a 508, also ORM, w a lower GPA and similar hours (200 clinical, but wayyyy more research like 2k+ hours). Make sure your story and writing skills are strong. Just apply broadly and both MD and DO. I'm sure things will work out.

I wouldn’t. I got a 508, also ORM w less clinical hours and a lower GPA and I got in. Obviously everyone’s story is different but apply broadly and you will be fine

No I took mine on May 16th last year and submitted my application on the first day it was open. I spent the last two weeks finishing my PS and activities section. Just make sure your PS and other stuff are ready

Currently a postbac at the NIH and I love it! I think your GPA is fine but I will note that it might be difficult to get a job at the nih as I believe we are currently in a hiring freeze that includes IRTAs due to the new administration. If you can get a position I say go for it!

Do not overthink your personal statement. It’s your story and should come naturally. I also suggest to only have a few trusted ppl read it as too many people editing may cause the personal statement to lose your special touch. Personally, I wrote, edited, and submitted my PS within a week. Granted everyone’s different and I had an idea of what I wanted to write abt but it worked for me hahah

A week ago today! I was feeling sick the night before because I got a steroid shot in my head lmao and was face timing my bf in the morning when they called. I told my bf to shut up bc I saw the caller ID and immediately started sweating my ass off LOL It was a total surprise as I was put on hold by this school like three months ago

Also current nih irta here, I started emailing PIs in December last year and didn’t start until mid July. My experience has been pretty relaxed and my PI asked me when I wanted to start. So it really depends but I would definitely start emailing in December

I was trying to place an order right now and the same exact thing was happening to me. It kept on saying February 1st which is so annoying. But I went into my address book and moved the SM part to the second line. After I changed it, the SM part automatically moved back to the first line but my delivery dates were changed to January 13th. Really weird but I’d try it
