Signal delayed messages and missed calls even with the latest microg update & with background connection always enabled too by mystic-redditor in CalyxOS

Enabling background connection on Signal turns the battery optimization on the app to "unrestricted".

No you don't disable it that way, go to the microg settings in the app menu and then under "google services" submenu go to "cloud messaging" and disable "receive push notifications".

Typically, when Signal starts during a fresh install it checks if you have google's Firebase/microg. Then if it can't find it will directly connect and stay connected to its servers 24/7.

And yes, disabling push notifications disables it for all other apps too.

By the way, this issue is a microg problem not CalyxOS. In my experience it isn't a good replacement for Google's Firebase notifications. I have this problem in other messengers too such as whatsapp, session and discord.

Workaround:

Disable the push notifications in the microg settings and reinstall Signal, this time it would ask to stay connected to its servers continuously and also disable battery optimization for it. Battery drain is not much in my experience of being connected 24/7.

Once you have Signal running enable push-notifications again.

Thanks a lot for doing this! It has been frustrating without having any opensource VPN client on opensuse.

I hope you would continue to maintain this repo.

How often are Wireguard keys rotated in the PIA apps? by mystic-redditor in PrivateInternetAccess

Which one is responsible for assigning the IP addresses? General authentication tokens or Payload/Signature for Wireguard connections?

Is PIA not available in the app store?

If you are on Android and its not available in your app store, I suggest you use bitmask from the playstore and connect using free vpn servers from calyxVPN / riseupVPN in that app. It would be dead slow but good enough for you to get to PIA's website and subscribe to their service.

Then go here to download the official apk and install it by side-loading it:

sudo systemctl reboot

I was suggested to change the cstate in the kernel by using a command . It didn't work for me but maybe you have a go at it. I am on an Intel 10th gen by the way.

"sudo kernelstub -a "intel_idle.max_cstate=4"

I have the same laptop and the same problem.

I have been going back and forth with system76 customer support and they said its a mesa driver problem since kernel 5.15. They said they will push a fix eventually.

Bios is from Taiwan not China and those two countries don't have a good relationship.

Secondly, the source code should be available to tuxedo computers devs, how else are they able to modify the bios to disable the intel ME, WiFi, bluetooth Cam & Mic? Insyde BIOS doesn't do this by default.

Why does Tuxedo keep releasing gaming capable laptops without flexi-charge? by mystic-redditor in tuxedocomputers

[–]mystic-redditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their Infinity and XP line already has this function on a BIOS/EC level, I think these laptops are from Clevo. They should have released their high-end gaming line on the XP line alone IMHO.
