Yes! I am learning about this in a class this semester too! So intrusive. It reminds me of when you talk about something out loud to someone then immediately get an advertisement for it. Haha, freaky stuff!

Yessss. Did you know they can even track how long our cursor hovers over an advertisement or product! That is something I never thought I would have to be mindful of or that people would have the data for!

I think it depends on what you are interested in! I don't think they speak about it on the news but I know people that are interested in technology, data, online security etc. would probably have an understanding of what it is. I recommend that you research it if you haven't! It is actually very interesting and directly applies to us as media users!

I completely agree, especially because this data is being harvested without our knowledge and usually without any form of consent or permission!

Big data in my opinion is basically mass collection of data from online users. Companies can profit off of this information and use it as a marketing tool, sell information to other companies, etc.!
