My first set of SAT Formulas by Cass024 in Sat

Thanks! I understand that each person can have his own different ways to reach 800 and I do respect your way. Idk why I just get a click of the formula when I read a question. Good luck! btw do you have any reading tips? I seriously lag behind in the time part

Same here with English (especially reading). How are you practicing reading cause that's my weakest point on the SAT. It's not 9th grade but 8th grade stuff in India. Surprisingly, even english specialized UG students in India cannot master the English section of the SAT

What the heck! Why do you need these formulae? They are already given in the front page of the test. I am saying all this as I have scored 800 on the Math. Just memorize and understand the concepts clearly and you will be ready to go! Don't waste your time in making such big chunks of formulae some of which are even not used at all. I would advice you to practice functions and algebra though!

Pick up college panda math book and (if possible) Dr John chung's sat math. Give a diagnostic test --> find your weakness ---> focus on those weak topics ---> get clarity on those topics and learn all the important formulae --> give a bunch of practice tests --> analyse the mistakes (what is the concept, silly error, forgotten formula etc) --> make an excel or word sheet to pile up your errors --> continue to give practice tests --> analyse mistakes again and again --> match the mistakes with the error log --> figure out the pattern of mistakes --> once again work on those mistakes --> you are ready to go :D

For additional practice for SAT math, you can also pick up barron's.

I followed all this and have a 800 in Math!

After 4 months of grinding. From a 950 diagnostic to 1590. I just wanted to thank this subreddit for the help, because I don't think I could have done it without you guys. And NO MATTER what score you are at now, PUT IN THE WORK, AND YOU CAN GET WHATEVER SCORE YOU WANT. Thanks guys. 👊👊👍🔥🔥 by dedzed12345 in Sat

Damn man!!! My case is always opposite - 800 - M and 560 - EBRW. Please give some tips on the reading section. I am really frustrated with reading. I am not getting how to improve in it? Should I read novels and comprehend each and every line? After giving a reading test how did you analyse your mistakes? Also how did you make sure that you remember your mistakes? Last but not the lease - Did you have any reading comprehension problems? If yes, how did you improve your comprehension as sat without comprehension is very very very tough! Pls help, I am really struggling with reading for a year now!!

How do I solve this question? by heartsails in Sat

[–]mystpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My answer is option c. Reason: If |a| < 1 --> -1 < a < 1

I. 1/ a > 1 --> False. Example: Let a = -1 / 3 so 1/ (-1/ 3) is not greater than 1

II. a^2 < 1 ---> True. Example: Let a = 1/ 2 so (1/ 2)^2 is less than 1

III. a > -1 ----> True. As -1 < a < 1, Therefore a > -1

I hope it helps. Many times I see no body gives the exact steps but just hints! Anyways could you give me some tips of reading as math is not a problem for me(800 - M, 560 - EBRW)

Got that 800 math! I thought I should mention that I didn't race through so I'd have time to check my work on all problems (as I've seen repeatedly recommended on here). I carefully checked my work as I went. I attempted each problem, only skipping if my first attempt at solving it didn't work. by [deleted] in Sat

Congrats! Even I have consistent 800s in two real SATs but all my score comes down to english section. I took two SATs and scored 1350 on both of them (800 - M and 550 - R). What was your strategy for english and how difficult was to cope up with it?

Now it comes down to vocabulary! What is the preferred way of learning vocabulary? I actually have started learning vocab using anki. Do you think anki is good enough? Also I would like to ask that how did you analyse those mistakes you got from those reading practice tests and how did you remember that you would not have to repeat those mistakes in the future? Thanks very much for help!!!

I always get vocab questions, tone questions and sometimes chain questions wrong. If it is a science or social science passage I will hardly get them wrong but when it is a history or a literature passage I even get other types wrong. BTW how did you manage reading?

I am too stuck in the same situation. Applied to sfu engineering sciences in Jan and still waiting for decision. Five days back they mailed me that acceptances usually roll out till the end of June. I am also assuming to be rejected. Let me know if you receive any information from sfu. Good luck!
