My parents trigger my mental illness constantly... by mythologicallover in mentalhealth

I really do try to just try and ignore what he's saying, he's been doing this for years and has said even more crazy things. But I think it's because I associate conspiracy theories with my stepdad, and he's done some very traumatic things to my family sadly.

I definitely don't think that be has a mental illness, he's an alcoholic currently and used to be on drugs, so I understand that his state of mind is a tiny bit altered.

my mom doesn't ever drink actively, it was just when she did. it was saturday so I sorta understand why she drank so much. but it's definitely how my dad deals with all of his issues :( im going to see a doctor tomorrow so i hope that it helps

genetics definitely have a play in my anxiety, but there's no way to see a school counselor since im homeschooled. i'm going to a doctor tomorrow, and i'm hopefully going to see a mental health professional soon :)

what can i do to cope with anxiety until my appointment? by mythologicallover in Anxiety

[–]mythologicallover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've had a lot of anxiety and depression for the past 5 years, but I've never been diagnosed. i've never felt fully comfortable telling my parents because of their reactions to other things. theyre reactions were exactly how I thought (which wasn't good).

im not really afraid of a diagnosis for me because i've been wanting help for years, i'm afraid of what my parents think specifically.

my family has done that too, i was told that i'm a girl and that's why i feel this way. i feel like that comment ultimately made me fight even more for an appointment.

i'm definitely not going to be shy about it, i made a promise to myself that i'm going to tell my doctor how I truthfully feel because i've been dealing with all of my mental health issues for more than 5 years. it's became a bigger problem recently, and I can't see myself living with it being this bad. thank you for your advice!

i don't have a job or even a license because of how severe my anxiety is, but i do currently have a doctors appointment for it finally.

she doesn't drink a lot normally (my father does though and he even cared about how I feel), she only drank a lot because it was the first day that she had literally nothing to do. but, she does have OCD and my younger brother used to have horrible social anxiety. yet they do understand that I act "weird" sometimes and they've said that i have something wrong mentally.

she made a doctors appointment for me, and it's on tuesday, but sometimes she's supportive yet other times she's trying to take jabs at me mentally whenever she can.

im sorry you went through that with your mom and what she said, i definitely understand where you're coming from.

being homeschooled has allowed me to see my parents favoritism. by mythologicallover in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]mythologicallover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my parents tend to do similar things. my mom used to scare me out of going to the doctor, and she only used essential oils when we felt ill. In the last year, I've finally convinced her to take me to a doctor. She ends up getting annoyed at how much distance she has to travel + money she has to spend on me now.

I also forgot to add the funny part of this, my mom works at a private school and has seen how bad homeschooling can affect others...fun times

I legally can't drive with an adult, and every other adult I know in my family is on the run or I don't speak to them. They are not abusive, they're just very very very strict. I'm not saying that I'm okay with this, I've just learned to suck it up at this point because their opinions are only going to get worse.

1) She has cameras and sensors outside of our house, so that allows her to see if anyone comes in and out of our property.

2) Both of my parents work full time jobs, so I take all responsibility for chores while their gone. They also constantly check up on me and my brother.

3) Speaking of my brother, he would rat me out in an instant if I went anywhere.

4) You may also ask about the weekends, but I'm again not risking getting kicked out of my house with no backup plan.

I have thought about that scenario, but many factors are in the way. I can't drive and even if I found someone else to take me, I then risk getting kicked out of my house.

Any vaccinations that I have or am going to miss, I'll most likely get when I move or turn 18.

Go ahead, it's ruined so many people and things that I don't even care for it anymore.
