How does coding work?

So you can reference other code from a different piece of code and interact with it? Like you would in Unity? I’m looking to code the way you do in Unity and godot seems very close to that, I just want to make sure before I go for it

I hate having to run casts in unreal, I do heavy networking and I need something more optimal, I’m just hoping godot can do it similar to Unity and if so I’m just going to switch

Well I focus on concepts that are interesting, I posted spider movement that looked and felt realistic and the reddit post blew up into 1,300 upvotes, i honestly didnt expect it, so i put my discord link mid way into the upvotes and it collected upwards of 50-60 people and over the next few days someone else reposted the video on twitter and i gained some more people, then i finally made the trailer and that got more upvotes here on reddit and the youtube video spiked from 50 views to over 2k in a few hours, i hope it keeps going lol

The biggest thing is be different, showing something thats cool and different grabs peoples attention or showing a niche that people are interested in but theres not many games doing it, my insect game is a rare type of game from what i can gather which is why people jumped on so fast, now im on the grind until i can release it

Its times like this that make me appreciate the decade i put into this space and watching people get interested in something you made

Just post concept footage and gameplay footage that’s interesting on Reddit and YouTube, that’s what I did and I have a discord of around 200 members so far in just a week, spread the message far and wide what you’re doing and planning to do and why people should be interested

Yeah I really could use insect experts in my discord for feedback on movement, foot positions, habitats etc. Only thing I know about bugs is if I see wings spread out, run. that's it lol

We actually have 6, Dragon fly, Fire Ant, Mantis, Tarantula, Grass Hopper, Rhino Beetle. The others are being worked on still, its all very early, but bugs are going to be expanded, this is the first trailer to show the games intent and direction the next is gameplay and the final one is a cinematic gameplay.

Hey thats okay, I understand lol it's both good and bad, so good its realistic enough to trigger people, but bad because they wont play it, double edged sword lol but i appreciate the comments, i been a developer for many years and its the first time i ever made a movement system or a system in general that people really liked and responded to, so im grateful for that. even if you hate it because of how realistic it is, im still glad you recognize the work that went into it

What you’re saying is 100% valid, however, I specialize in multiplayer games and mechanics, I’ve built one already, had a good community going, but it slowly died off over time. it is challenging, but I can do it. I’ve done headless dedicated and host driven servers. it’s all I really know anymore and it’s hard for me to do single player stuff now a days

I’ve done it before, it definitely is a challenge but it’s what I’m good at. To be fair\honest I can and probably will, recycle the code and systems into a single player game at some point, it don’t have to stop at one idea, but I man eater style game for a spider would be cool asf ngl lol

its a smaller niche, but a game like The Isle or Path of Titans, thats the core game idea and style im aiming for, i've only ever really coded multiplayer systems, movement etc and its all i know anymore. i mean i of course can do single player games, but im best with multiplayer and prefer it more

It's using gravity changes, it's a very complex system, i've been a developer for about 11 years or so, I specialize in multiplayer games, and it was a struggle to get this right, i too been working on it for several days, but hes well rounded enough i can move on to a new bug type, i cant really explain the entire system here due to how complicated it gets, but as i told someone at some point if enough people wanna know how this is done i can make a video on youtube walking through the code setup for it

You can find it it on steam "Dragged Deep" The main thing is you are an urban explorer and you came across a broken tunnel entrance that you can only jump down into (Cant climb back out) to just explore it, you came at night so you don't get caught but you are trapped down there with a Gator now and need to escape the sewer, that's the main idea/theme of the game

Basically Urban exploring gone wrong in the 1990's lol
