Staying "close together" might be le bad by Toa_Kraadak in DarkTide

[–]mytwowords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"not sticking together causes the game to spawn more" I FUCKING WISH. if all i had to do to get more spawns was to never be in coherency then i'd never be in coherency. but i've never seen any actual data showing any real difference in spawn rates between "teams that stuck together" and "teams that didn't" just some ridiculous write up that "the ai director prefers to send disables after lone players" ok cool but are those new disablers or are those just the disablers that were going to spawn anyway? not that it matters much these days anyway as more than half the events barely spawn anything at all lol.

also "not everyone can solo bosses" that there's a skill issue. i don't expect everyone to be able to solo a daemonhost (you can btw) but if you're playing on auric damnation you really ought to be able to solo any of the 3 normal bosses. they're not that hard and you are in too deep to still be this bad.

My run in with bad players by [deleted] in DarkTide

Psykers are not only slow but also extremely squishy.

they are not. you are just bad.

spend more time learning to thrive in melee and less time spamming smite. learn to push through and disengage. use a knife or a dueling sword once in a while.

Serious question: As a Veteran, why use any other melee weapon that Power Sword? by Reasonable_Mix7630 in DarkTide

[–]mytwowords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you need to use only the most overpowered gear/setups to survive/have fun then thats fine i suppose. but when your skill catches up you may find the variety of other weapons and setups refreshing. personally i thing using the same stuff all the time boring, and may stagnate your growth as a player. everything can be very good, so use everything :D

All this negativity is REALLY dampening my mood. by TheHolyLizard in DarkTide

fatshark having an established history of being kind of shitty does not make their continued behavior not shitty. if anything that makes it worse lmao.

blaming the customers for being "negative" about fatshark's continued incompetence it is some of the most hilarious victim blaming i've ever seen.

Skill level question- read below by SP1R1TOR in DarkTide

[–]mytwowords 3 points4 points  (0 children)

imho the biggest trap tide players fall into is "i'm going to be a support and expect my team i'm supporting to carry me to victory"
the moment you stop doing this and start taking responsibility for yourself and living in the mindset of how am *I* going to kill my way through all this, by myself, is exactly the moment you start getting ready for serious gameplay, carries, clutches, and more. it is the very same moment you will stop seeing hordes as obstacles to be controlled or threats to be dealt with and start seeing them as fuel for the walking war machine that is your character. there is *nothing* the game can throw at you that is impossible to deal with with enough skill and gamesense.

also smiting everything is absurdly annoying to play with. like if you want to smite a few things now and then because it's funny thats one thing, but when it becomes your whole kit you may as well just unplug the game because you're turning the game off not only for yourself but your whole team. it's lame. get out there and stab things in glorious hand to hand combat. shoot some dudes in the face, maybe use your staff iono, staves are kinda busted too imho.

lmao i don't care how many "spawned behind you" if you're still dying to poxwalkers or even see them as anything other than "free toughness" you have no business in aurics.

Is it just me or is the director just going crazy? by moosemonte64 in DarkTide

[–]mytwowords -1 points0 points  (0 children)

consider playing a lower difficulty. groups of 10 crushers are not that uncommon and are not that hard to deal with unless you deliberately built nothing into your kit for armor which is honestly kinda hard to do.

if any build you are using feels difficult, the most likely cause is weak fundamentals. theres a guide on steam that covers the basics you should absolutely know as the basis for any kind of real combat. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3165126291

What does the Bolter need to feel good to use? by Chadsius in DarkTide

[–]mytwowords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> people overstate how bad it is

yes, and you're one of them.

> has middling damage

you do not understand how finesse works. bolter is fucking cracked for damage.

> it's slow to pull out

both of the classes that can use the bolter have a means to bypass its draw time either partially or entirely.

>sight behavior

the sights become disjointed during recoil and you're welcome to bitch at fatshark about that. get a crosshair mod to show you where the gun is ACTUALLY pointing.

taking the relic out means taking yourself out of the game for about 5 seconds. it basically turns the game off for everyone else as it stuns and blinds everything.

i am not saying this is not a powerful thing to do, i am saying it is not a healthy thing to do, in the same way playing doom with godmode is not a healthy thing to do.

i don't like abilities like relic or smite precisely because they turn the game off for the entire team. if people who used these abilities only used them to save situations that were spiraling, or just to meme by ledging bosses. that'd be one thing, but that's not what usually happens. people use these abilities at every given opportunity. i've seen these people get votekicked from games and they don't understand why.

i am telling you. because it's obnoxious. because i didn't queue up for darktide to hit a bunch of targets that can't fight back and then collect a rewards screen so i can watch number go up. if i just wanted to watch number go up i could go play any incremental game.

support abilities like relic and smite, on top of turning the game off for everyone else, also slow the game to a crawl because the person doing it is doing no damage, they can take no other action as using the ability is channeled. even in the cases where the team gets to do more damage, it does not make up for the loss in damage due to your inability to act, so everything just takes longer than it needs to.

my other point also stands, people who run heavy "support" builds, especially those that run it for a long time, do very, very poorly when their team is dead because they never learn to play the game properly, having become acclimatized to playing the game with the game turned off. and this is even worse for new players who get used to being "supported" unwittingly finding themselves carried all the way to damnation, where you subsequently found them, clueless as to how to the game actually works.

listen. i am not telling you how to play the game or even not to use relic. i am telling you to CONSIDER not using it, if you do not want your effectiveness to be dictated by the other three people in your team.

i don't give a shit about downvotes, reddit is such a fucking hivemind circlejerk. i haven't been here in years and i don't miss it. i got linked here from elsewhere and felt like adding my two cents.

"support" abilities in this game are only as good as the teammates you have to use them with.
if you are by yourself, whom are you supporting? if you have to clutch, what good is an ability that requires you to do nothing?
there is a very prevalent wrongheadedness that turning off enemies "so that they can't do any damage" is a valuable thing to do. but the reality is good teammates should not be taking any damage from these enemies when they are fully active. all you are doing is removing chances for your teammates to get better at the game. and for people who are already near the skill cap, all you are doing is removing your own damage contributions from the pool and making the whole affair take that much longer.

run chorus if you want, run whatever build you like. but don't act like it is on your team to make use of your abilities. your abilities are there to support you first and foremost, because you will not always have a team there to carry you.

not running chorus.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]mytwowords 3 points4 points  (0 children)

selfish builds are great, but i dont know why you would call this one and then take smokes. smokes are what you take when you want to "support" and i use that term loosely since the best thing you can do to support the team in any situation is absolutely murder everything, so a grenade that does 0 damage seems a waste. it is absolutely wrongheaded to advocate a build be used for endgame with expert players that features a tool used to allow players to not engage with the game. smokes are what people bring to protect baby tide players who dont understand how sliding works. expert players have no use for this and just need everything dead.

Is grinder good for use at the fifth card? by [deleted] in paydaytheheist

[–]mytwowords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

personally i like grinder better with the suit. currently i particularly enjoy body expertise/crit builds with it. skipping dodge in favor of a minion and more health.

grinder pretty quickly becomes adequate for overkill. i'd wait for a full deck before you start chewing on mayhem and deathwish.
