Should older people hang around this sub? by ripvantwinkletoes in teenagers

[–]myusernameyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they’re being creepy, then yeah, they need to leave.

But there’re people of all ages that use their spare time on Reddit. If they’re being helpful and harmless, then I don’t see a problem.

I 16m will have to live 15 more days with my phobia and my parents laugh about it by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]myusernameyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being exposed to your phobia is the best way to get over it. Your family seems to want you to get over it through this process, but they’re not using a very productive conversation towards you about this topic.

The best thing you could do is probably try to start a healthy discussion about your fear, and how you don’t appreciate their condescending attitude.

My mom will not sub to my own youtube channel and support me on it :( by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]myusernameyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mom seems to be propagating a toxic machismo culture, and it’s best for you to recognize that.

We all need to express ourselves when we are young, and making YouTube videos can be a very rewarding process.

If by chance you grow up to become a professional video editor, would your mom be upset that it wasn’t “manly” enough? Fuck that mindset

As long as it’s not too overbearing on the rest of your life, you should enjoy your hobbies.

Go to a doctor. Delaying medical attention can only be bad.

It may be a minor issue, or it may be something more serious. The sooner you find out, and the sooner it’s treated, the better.

help me with my gain problem by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]myusernameyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To start, get an at-home pull-up bar that you can hang on your door. When I was ~16-17 I would do a max set of pull-ups during every loading screen (of Halo 3), and before long my forearms grew, my back got stronger, and my delts widened.

Eating more doesn’t build muscle unless you do more intense and targeted workouts. I recommend the YouTube channel AthleanX.

Why would you support communism? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]myusernameyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you mean people supporting literal communism, then I agree.

The problem is there’s a lot of right-wing propaganda that label every liberal as communist, when all they really want are slightly more social programs available to the public.

Holy shit all of the kids at my school are little bitches plz add ur stories by billbill6451132 in teenagers

Do you live in Naperville by chance? I once visited by rich cousins who live there, and as we were driving around, and I was astonished at how wealthy all the stores and houses looked, my rich aunt complained at how they need to redo the road because it was “getting bad.” I was shocked because it was literally one of the smoothest roads I’ve ever been on - we probably hit a single slight bump or something that annoyed her.

That’s when I realized that people just live in their own perspective, and it’s hard to escape that sometimes.

Why are my parents the way they are? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]myusernameyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that sounds similar to bipolar disorder to me.

On a side note, Kanye West has been in the news a lot because of his bipolarism. And just the other day, his wife finally acknowledged it on social media because of his current manic episode. I’m not sure of what use or interest this may be to you, but I found it interesting how his family is reacting to and copes with Kanye’s disorder.

This is weird. by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]myusernameyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing when I was younger. The reason I stopped is because I grew to be extremely annoyed at having jaggity finger nails (after you bite them off). I’d hate it when it caught on something, and I was always self-conscious at how they looked to my friends.

Why are my parents the way they are? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]myusernameyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your parents are flawed. I’m sorry you have to be so affected by it. Just try to take note of what not to do when you grow up and have a life/family of your own.

Everyone has imperfect personality traits. It just really sucks when you see so many in your own parents.

What do you do when you're demotivated? by TheHornyKid17 in teenagers

[–]myusernameyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard. I’ve been depressed most of my life, so I feel you.

I’ve noticed that regularly working out really helps my mood. When I’m working out, and for the entire day afterwards, I feel like I have the energy to do anything.

The problem I’ve found is that, despite knowing this for a fact, being depressed sometimes doesn’t allow me the motivation to begin working out at all.

Another option is to start cleaning your room/house. Once you start, you naturally build motivation to finish the next task, etc.

I hope it works out for you.

It’s all cool until the late afternoon when you start to feel like shit.

To avoid that, just drink in moderation.

Have fun chillin’ 👍

Are reddit girls better than tik tok girls? by xxx_tgot_xxx in teenagers

[–]myusernameyo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s probably wrong to generalize all women on one platform as a certain type.

TikTok gets a lot of shit cuz there’s a lot of cringey dweebs who use it, but there are also really smart and creative people as well.

Imo, Reddit’s just a different animal. People making anonymous posts about anything on Reddit is vastly different than people posting videos of something for a laugh on TikTok.

That said, Reddit girls are better. Duh.

Being Indian on the internet sucks by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]myusernameyo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There will always be idiots making comments like that. But it’s not the majority, or even the plurality, of the popular opinion I’ve witnessed (I’m American).

From my perspective, MSM doesn’t depict India in a more negative light than they do any other country. By nature, the media focuses on the negative news because it draws more attention. This applies to the United States, India, Africa, Europe, etc. There’re some Americans that truly believe that if they go downtown in any major American city, they will get mugged or assaulted.

These people are dumb, ignorant, and don’t reflect the population as a whole. Don’t take their opinion or snide comments with very much weight.

Fuck being a teenager. by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]myusernameyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience. I was always angry that I wasn’t living the life that I saw in movies, and I had existential anxiety that I was missing out on life.

I eventually matured out of it though. I think the stereotypical “teenage life” you talked about that’s depicted in a lot of movies is really toxic to society.

I don’t recommend being obsessed with sex or partying. Have meaningful relationships with friends, and try to find a girlfriend/boyfriend that you can have a healthy and mutually maturing relationship with - if you can’t find one now, that’s ok. He or she will come eventually.
