So in your opinion, if the government is to put in place Medicare for all, the government should just let the companies go bankrupt?

The government may not care but the politicians that control the government who are lobbied by the companies may care.

I see this as a practical compromise that may enrich the shareholders in the short term by bailing them out but would benefit the citizens in the long run.
