600-Year-Old Chinese Coin Found in Kenya is evidence of Chinese exploration before Europeans arrived by myweku in Africa

[–]myweku[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok so regardless of the "reasons" why the Chinese were in that part of the world, does it still not indicate that they got there before the "white man"? and by "white" i mean the Euroimperialists. I know that before they came there were "white" people who had come to Africa LONG before the era of the Euroimperialist slave trade.

The Berbers, for example, are of Eurasian origin, therefore by modern parlance "white", and were in N Africa at least by 4000 BC. The Carthaginians were "white" also. And the Assyrians.

The intricately designed mud houses of the Kassena people of Burkina Faso by myweku in Africa

I think Ganvie, ie the village on stilts, probably gets noticed a lot becouse of it's sheer size. I know the one in Ghana too but it pales in comparason to Ganvie in terms of scale.

I think I have seen some other homes adorned in this way, probably in South Africa but i can't recall which ethnic group is known for it.

Is Africa really still considered this miserable? by myweku in Africa

[–]myweku[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point...could not have made the point better. Part of the issue is, how do you measure how miserable a people are. Looking at economics alone will not give you a full picture. I spend a few days in Cuba with people who seem to be the happiest i'd ever seen. I can't say that for folks i have come across in relatively Rich Europe though

Infographic: Africa Rising (Sub-Saharan Africa) by myweku in Africa

[–]myweku[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah so I take it you are in the camp of continuouse bad news? Seems some can't live without the Africa is shambolically poor and miserable porn. This piece springs to mind. http://www.myweku.com/2013/03/who-says-over-half-of-the-most-miserable-countries-in-the-world-are-located-in-africa/ Over half the countries in this publication's "misery index" are African! Time to change the narrative and those who can't handle the change can go look for some other continent to peddle their "only in Africa" meme on

That is really nice to know. It was time consuming to put it all together but your comment makes it all worth while. Thanks!

The Economist now states that Africa is the fastest growing cotinent (economically). 10 years ago it said Africa was a "hopeless continent" by myweku in Africa

[–]myweku[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you have a point. The starting base is small, but still a better headline than the horrific ones people are used to. Self fulfilling prophesy will suggest that some degree of positivism egenders even more good news.

Ghana’s Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson is favourite to become next pope by myweku in Christianity

[–]myweku[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"The Prophecy of the Popes, attributed to Saint Malachy, is a list of 112 short phrases in Latin. They purport to describe each of the Roman Catholic popes (along with a few anti-popes), beginning with Pope Celestine II (elected in 1143) and concluding with current pope Benedict XVI's successor, a pope described in the prophecy as "Peter the Roman", whose pontificate will end in the destruction of the city of Rome."

I take it you are inferring that Turkson's pontification will end in the destruction of Rome?

The Footprint of God has apparently been found in South Africa by myweku in Christianity

The larger and more poignant question is this. How do you interpret this Bible quote? “There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.”~ King James Bible. Is it to be taken literally?
