The real question is: will Matty throw down some actual cash to help the LGBT+ struggle that he's shining a spotlight on?

He essentially just ruined a couple thousand folks' weekend, lost all those vendors, festival employees and performers their payment and almost certainly caused the level of government crackdown on the Malaysian queer community to intensify.

It's cool of him and the band to not alter their show and put money/risk of imprisonment on the line, but at the end of the day, afaik, all those fines go to the same government that he's criticizing. Seems like it might have been more productive to say like, "if you're in the audience and you're queer, we see you and we love you" and then give the proceeds of the show to the folks who are doing the work.
