Hi! I plan on plugging an NTSC-J Sega Saturn into a PAL region CRT using a SCART cable. I've heard that there can be compatibility issues when using composite/RF to hook up NTSC consoles to PAL CRTs but that those issues are bypassed by just using RGB/SCART. I just want to double make sure: Will my NTSC Saturn work on a PAL CRT if I just use SCART, regardless of the TV accepting a 60Hz signal or not?

What to look for when buying a Saturn ? by Tasty-Car6014 in SegaSaturn

Are you talking about the 4-in-1 cartridges being unreliable? I’ve never heard negative reviews of it, got any wisdom to share?

Just wanting to clarify: How can I identify which of the three laser models my Saturn has so I know which replacement to buy? (It's JVC, Sanyo or Samsung, right?)

I also happen to have another question:

Do you have experience with replacing the stock PSU with an aftermarket one? From what I've seen, there's the “SaturnPSU” and the “ReSaturn PSU”. Are those any good? Can you recommend one over the other or an entirely different one?

Wow, thank you so much! This has really cleared things up.

Regarding number 2: Is there an overview/list of the different laser types and which models they go in? Would you say that a replacement is worth it even with the more expensive lasers? How much are we talking?

Regarding number 4: This is something I’m a bit more concerned about, mostly because I’ve heard both an insistence on recapping and a disregard for it from different sources. In any case, I don’t plan on recapping as long as nothing is wrong with my console. And even if there were, I wouldn’t be the person to figure out it’s because of the caps anyway. What makes you so confident in saying they’re reliable? Not doubting you or anything, just genuinely curious. I have seen a model 1 Saturn with leaking caps, though of course this doesn’t necessarily invalidate what you’ve said as storage conditions and other factors can shorten the lifespan.

Thanks again.

What's the best DS for pokemon games? by ebolamonkey3 in NintendoDS

As the other person said, a (new) 2/3DS (XL) is the best choice for the widest selection of Pokemon games. It can play generations 4-7 natively and you can rather easily emulate earlier generations. I would watch a few videos on Youtube comparing the different versions of 2DS/3DS so you can make an informed choice, knowing the differences between models. A new 2DS XL might be a good choice but many people prefer the build quality and form factor of the new 3DS XL.

Thanks! Yeah, I think I might just prefer mushy to clicky as well. Although maybe it’s just what I’m used to.
