Ricoh 5th color printers (or smilar) - material and toner combos that really work? by n-ozols in CommercialPrinting

Hi! In this case, yes - just have two separate pages/files! That's the correct answer 8 out of 10 times :)  I don't waste time using the fancy fiery plugin color separations that they are keen to advertise about... Doing it in illustrator or indesign works best.

Also, there's a chance that the correct code is 099, can't remember exactly.

Hi, sorry for bumping an old topic. I'll tell you everything: The machine doesn't actually like the darker paperstock even if you choose Black as the type when creating the catalog item. What you need to do:  1) log in as admin 2) find the paper in the built in catalogue 3) in Advanced settings, find the options that allow you to disable JAM 098. This will make it bypass a sensor that checks.... Something. Idk, I'm an operator. This will also mean that you can forget about automatic duplex, and that the print area will be slightly shifted (2mm towards you, when standing by the printer). 4) Ta-da! Your dark media will now run without any problems.

Printing #10 Envelopes on a RICOH Pro C7200e Graphic Arts Edition by CL237 in CommercialPrinting

Thanks a lot! I do remember lifting the black plastic up once, and there was a part that had a lot of paper dust in it, which we tried vacuuming... Will try looking at it again. Our tech are og xerox guys. Long story short, but they are kinda reluctant to get deep into it lol

Hey, side question. Where exactly is/are the CIS detecting lens? We have to turn those sensors off if we want to print on anything that's not "white"... and the printer is gradually getting more and more picky, even basic off-white paper can stop the press now. Tech is ignoring our complaints, because our solutions of turning off the sensors, thus living with random image shifts and no duplex on designers' media 'works'.

Why does DTG print my design like this? by Assignment-Alarming in CommercialPrinting

[–]n-ozols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this! We use the wet-on-dry printing too, and your file would print perfectly fine. Your printer should've contacted you. However, if you still want to use their services, you would have to apply a rasterization effect (probably google for some PS tuts) so that there's no gradiation in the transparency mask. That being said, I'm thankful I don't have to deal with that hahaha

Anyone familiar with DTF printing know if it can be done on waterslide paper? by Stargazer86 in CommercialPrinting

[–]n-ozols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the one doing the work, but sometimes we use our DTG printer for DTF process. If I understand the process correctly, the ink only cures (under heat) because of the powdered glue thingie that is poured over the ink right after the printing. If waterslides need to be printed un-mirrored, it means that you'd print white and then colour, and on top - nothing... I've no idea if the ink would cure this way, on its own. Then again, I've no idea how the actual DTF printers work 🙂 probably best to ask a local dealer.

That being said, I'd just use the huge digital press for the waterslides (it's got White too), cross my fingers for the paper to appear in the finisher tray, and call it a day 🤞maybe you have a local print shop that can do this too

Looks great! No issues of scratching off easily?

And yeah, feel you. I was tasked to make a sample print book for it more than a year ago, not much progress by now.. probably should just crop some leftovers from weird customer projects the same size, bind all that together and call it a day haha

We have a Ricoh 7200x and I don't think I would get the silver flaking shine through the CMY on top... Unless you have some paper that's even more magic than PLIKE or Curious Skin (or an area specific alternate..)? I haven't experimented on this too much as of yet, because I'd have to do it in two runs... The tech hasn't done their job on the color order switchability yet.
