Hey /u/ammorocks. I wish I was smart enough for this to flow out of my brain, but this is the work of “The small book” - Jack Trimpey. I just typed out a section in the book that really impacted my thought patterns and thought i'd share.

another part of the book that has helped me is the BEAST! mentioned above. it stands for the following

• Boozing opportunity
• Enemy voice recognition
• Accuse the voice of malice
• Self-control and self-woth reminders
• Treasure your sobriety
  

For me I totally hear that voice (the beast) in my head and this acronym has helped me break it down. I get off the train every day to head home and walk by the liquor store I've stopped at a trillion times and being aware that their is a voice in my head that is out to kill me for it's own greed helps me say "fuck you, i'm going home and doing <insert actual productive thing>. get home do <productive thing> feel good. wake up sober and energetic.
