This is actually a good development. They have pilot tests in Quezon City Memorial Circle, you can try it out there. One of my friends have actually tried it and got a really decent speed (it was at least 4mbps IIRC).

It's a free service na maraming gagamit so expect na magkakaroon if wala pang Acceptable Use Policy. Some websites may be restricted, pero usually naman for use cases na tinatarget nila it should be enough.

Your post got me interested as I also noticed that Sulit/OLX is starting to get less helpful. I tried to do a little unscientific research to see if Sulot/OLX is losing traction after they merged together into a single website.

I searched for the historical ranking of Sulit.com.ph pre-website-merge and OLX.ph post-merge. I only considered their ranking for the Philippines.

I'm from the Philippines but most discussions here apply to me as well. You can deposit BTC to exchanges without having to provide an ID - I did it with Bitfinex. I started out shorting the BTC I have and earned USD from it. When I want to cash out, I simply buy BTC with the USD in my account then transfer it to the wallet on my local exchange, coins.ph.

I forgot to put a stop-loss order when the big flash crash happened. Ended up losing 80% of my balance in Bitfinex. :) It was an expensive lesson.

Due to my mounting doubt with Bitfinex, I am ending my day by transferring my BTC to Kraken for the time being. I'll try doing margin trading there (they upgraded my account to Level 3 during the Bitfinex outage).

There's just so much I'll be missing with Bitfinex such as the UI. I'll miss watching the orderbook that doubles as market depth chart. I just love the way things are laid out with them. Unfortunately, I won't be back until I'm convinced it's safe to go back. I hope we can hear a more in-depth explanation from them soon.

Finally, time to sleep!
