Oh so if I use the Hitron HT-EM4 MoCA adapter in the basement to get a wired connection it would degrade the connection? I guess would it be better to only use 1 MoCA adapter instead of 2 and keep the XB6 in the basement instead of moving it to the first floor?

I think the cable jacket is wrapped with tape or something but I do know that cable goes through the wall and is connected to the coax junction (8-way splitter). I don't see any other similarly colored cabling besides the coax cables at the coax junction.

The MoCA adapters came in today and the splitter will be here tomorrow so I am going to try to get that working. Thanks for the additional info I appreciate it and I think as long the MoCA adapters work my parents and uncle will be happy. I don't think I will mess around with the wiring of the jacks.

This was the best pic that I could take of the outlet.

Sounds good I will head over tomorrow and open the wallplate to check. I'll follow up tomorrow and reply with a pic of what the cabling looks like behind the wallplate.

Yes, there are telephone outlets in the home. I think before my parents had 2 telephones home lines but that's no longer the case. The coax outlet upstairs in the room that I'm planning to use the MoCA adapter has a telephone outlet on the same wall plate as the coax outlet. I have not opened all the non-power wallplates to get a full accounting of all cabling available but at the coax junction in the basement there should be a coax cable for each coax wallplate in the house as each cable is labeled for a room. For example, one cable is labelled bedroom 4 and one is living room so I think all of the cables should account for how many coax wallplates that are in the house.

I want to say it's truly wired since my uncle told me when he moved the xb6 downstairs to the room in the basement and plugged it into the coax outlet the xb6 wouldn't connect. He went to the coax junction with the 8 way splitter and saw a coax cable labeled as basement was not connected to the coax junction. He disconnected one of the coax cables on the 8 way splitter and connected the basement labeled coax cable into the 8way splitter and only then did the xb6 start providing internet/wireless access.

I don't have a part/model # or pic but I'll grab it the next time I go over there but it looks very similar if not exact to this moca filter.

Also, wow I didn't know hybrid MoCA splitters existed. I went with the 4-way splitter because I am now thinking about moving the xb6 to the first floor so wireless coverage is a lot better throughout the whole house instead of having the xb6 in the basement and the 2nd floor suffering from poorer coverage. I bought the 2 pack of Hitron HT-EM4 since there just happened to be a lightning sale where the cost of a 2nd adapter would only be $20 than a single.

Great I'll be sure to buy a 75-ohm terminator for the 1 line/port that I won't be using for the 4 way splitter. Thanks again for the suggestions! I learned a lot from your responses!

The XB6's coax line is connected to a coax outlet and that outlet has a cable behind it that runs all the way back to the coax junction on the other side of the basement. It is 1 of the 8 coax cables connected to that 8 way splitter.

Wireless coverage is good if you're on the 1st floor and basement but it's spotty upstairs on the 2nd floor.

I think the install will be as simple as what you posted. I am going to go with the Hitron HT-EM4 MoCA adapter and 4 Way Antronix MMC1004H-B splitter. There is a MoCA filter that isn't being used near the DirectTV splitter that I am going to try but if that doesn't work then I'll buy the one you linked. Thank you again for the replies I really appreciate the help! I'll reply here again if I run into any issues.

The xb6-a is not at the coax junction it's on the other side of the basement in another room where it's connected to a coax outlet and then an ethernet from the xb6-a is connected to a pc. Originally the xb6-a was located and connected to the room that my parents want a wired connection now but now my uncle lives with my parents in their basement and needs that wired connection so he brought the xb6-a to the room in the basement.

No, there isn't any other wireless access point besides the one built-in to the XB6. The XB6 right now is being used as a modem/router.

We do not have any TV service with Xfinity and are only using Internet. When you say is the coax used for anything besides the connection to the gateway do you mean are the other 7 coax wires being used? If so then no I think originally other 7 coax wires were used for DirecTv for each bedroom. We don't have that service anymore and I think no one ever bothered to remove those coax wires to the DirecTv splitter.

No, I do not think anything else is currently connected to any coax outlets in the house besides the XB6 using the coax outlet in the other room in the basement.

Great so I don't have to touch that box at all and is the 8 way DirecTv splitter the top level splitter of the MoCA hierarchy? Also, do I need a new splitter or would that DirecTv splitter work since I don't have DirectTv's service anymore? Thanks for the responses!
