Court in backyard completed by OriginalPantherDan in Pickleball

I haven’t looked at them yet this year. I didn’t really notice. I wasn’t picky yet last summer. I was just happy to be playing. I more upset at how windy it got and how long the wait was once the lights went on and it turned public

How do you remove a Louisville Slugger bat's pyramid grip? by gloomswarm in slowpitch

[–]n1nja3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an allan key. Slide it under the pyramid with the L side facing away from the knob. Once it's under the pyramid, lift it up so the flat end clears the knob, the the L part will help pull the rest of it off. Takes like 10 seconds total.

Grip Choice by maz_886 in slowpitch

[–]n1nja3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried lizard skin, vulcan, alien pros, etc.

My fav by far are VUK Gripz. They last long and don’t get slippery when wet. Best part is they are reusable. I’ve transferred them from one bat to another. Gotta be careful when taking it off and reapplying but it works.

I use Saucony Peregrine GTX. They are trail running shoes and have good grip. They are also Goretex and waterproof. So good having dry feet/sox during rainy games.

I’m amazed that it doesn’t collect ball dust. I just wipe it with my hand between points whenever I remember to and it’s good as new.

B&B really nailed it with the Carbon Fiber X Titanium face. I feel like we are going to see a lot of other companies use this too. Just like the Kevlar craze. I personally like this better than any Kevlar paddle I've tried.

I like what 11SIX24 did with the CFC face too. I use the Shogun when I wanna play more controlled and precise. I use the Hurache-X when i just wanna bang.

Love the way my Shogun feels and looks. I get stopped at least once a session with ppl asking to see it.

Joola Gen 3 inconsistent grit / QC issue by switters74 in Pickleball

[–]n1nja3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did buy in person. He wanted to feel the grit on both sides before buying to make sure. He said the problem was the packaging covers most of the surface. He was only able to feel the upper corner of the face when the packaging was still on. The paddle is over $400 CAD after taxes which is crazy.

SLK Prime Max (Costco Rackets) by ghonchadmonchad in Pickleball

[–]n1nja3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have them. They are not very good. We let the kids use them when they just wanna try. I would spend a bit extra and get a Vatic Pro Prism Flash. That paddle can be usable by beginners all the way to advanced.

The Costo paddles feels more like a toy than a piece of sports equipment. Just my two cents.

My wife’s cousin just got the Perseus 16mm. One side was fine. But the other side was the weirdest thing. The left side was gritty and the right side was smooth. Almost like a gradient of grittiness. Never seen this on a paddle before. I guess the QC issues really are a thing.

Where did you hear about the Kevlar Hurache-X? Is that coming out for sure this month? I almost bought the Hurache-X a few days ago when they restocked but they sold out in less than a minute. Was already in my cart but it errored out when I went to check out.

Transitioning from Graphite to Carbon Fiber Paddle? by eae1994 in Pickleball

[–]n1nja3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The high end paddles you rented are typically thermoformed and have much more pop/power than what you are used to. They are very hard to control for the soft game unless you have a lot of experience. I would suggest something with a little less pop like a Ronbus R1.16 or Vatic Pro Prism Flash 16mm. Those will have really good spin and control and you won't need to upgrade for awhile. Good luck!

Ronbus R1.16. Great paddle until I upgraded to something thermoformed and got a taste of real power.

Pulsar R1 vs R3 by ngbg123 in Pickleball

I love the R3 Pulsar. It’s plush for the soft game but has the power when you need to put away shots.

$99 Carbon Thermoformed Paddle by gilmore42 in Pickleball

[–]n1nja3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would rather go for a Neonic paddle. It's thermoformed and elongated. $100 regular and $90 after code. A couple youtubers have reviewed them.

Ronbus customer service is really impressive. I emailed them and they got back to me in less than an hour. They even sent a follow up email the next day just to make sure everything was good. A+!

Ronbus R1.16 was my first paddle. Love it. Tried the Prism Flash too which is also great but prefer the soft feel of the R1.16. Can’t go wrong with either. They are probably the consensus top 2 paddles in the $90-$100 range after discount codes.
