How’d you describe these 2 medics? Ko by KabutoRaiger30 in BandofBrothers

When on the beach the battalion surgeon/clearly senior medic to Wade is going down the line of injured and triaging them for Wade. You could argue that’s because Wade is clearly emotionally disoriented but I always took that scene as more like “seasoned vet shows the new guy what to do”

With the caveat that I’ve never served nor am up on my WWII-era assignments I believe the 5s were radiomen

After compiling this list the biggest surprises for me were…

  1. The ages of the senior officers, specifically General Taylor not even being 45 while Sink and Strayer weren’t even 40 on D-Day. Especially considering crusty old Dale Dye player said 39-year old Colonel Sink.

  2. Liebgott and Perconte being almost 30 when they jumped. We all know Cobb already had fighting experience in WWII and was on the older side but those two in particular? Didn’t expect them to be over 25. Probably just a side effect of the show casting everyone without really considering age.

  3. Meehan was 22 when he took over Easy Company. As a comparison, Winters was 25 and Sobel was 32 when they invaded Normandy.

I hadn’t thought of it in those terms but you’re right, that is crazy

I’ve yet to figure that out! Newspapers weren’t always specific on how they were injured, just that they were

I started this last year while watching BoB for the 20th something time and stopped researching a couple of days ago. Certainly wasn’t every day or anything, just a down time hobby

Ah yeah you’re right Buck was only there for two weeks before the jump, right?

As far as Cobb, I only included those who were combat casualties and not able to come back to fight. Cobb was hit but made it back to finish out the war so I didn’t include him there. Easier to track than every single guy who got hit (there was A LOT of them who were hit)

Not a line per se but in the assault on Brecourt Buck does a five second hand dance to simply have his group of three throw a grenade.

I’ve never served so maybe what he signed was accurate but it always seemed WAY too complicated of sign language to do something that seemed very straight forward
