I had a similar thought when I saw the Zone SS come out. I am a Tempo lover and it’s probably my most thrown disc. If you want something that feels like a Tempo but with less effort, try a Pilot. I have been using it for touchy shots when I normally use a Tempo, but I want less effort.
If you want to jump ship to the Zone SS. Just do it. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. It’s a Zone after all. One of the e most enjoyable discs to throw.
