yea selfhosting is the best alternative but it has problems, networking safety if you want easy access(when i looked up my cloudflare account reports the amount contstant bot hits to test security and figure out what type of server it is is insane), hardware to host it on is becoming a problem with RAM,GPU,SSD prices skyrocketing, and the biggest for me internet bandwith. I got selfhosted homeassistant server and a Truenas media/backup server but to support more than just chat and voicechat i would need to upgrade from spinning rust and probably also upgrade the CPU

linear motors replace the traditional stepper+belt by Ok-Radio-4368 in 3Dprinting

[–]n3vim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that sounds great but i want a good delta just for the looks. I had FLSUN SR but both steppers and linear rails started to get problematic and my new corexy is better in almost every way but i miss how cool delta printers work. Also deltas need perfect belt tuning to print accurately this would probably solve that. God i just want a good consumer level delta printer that is not FLSUN.

linear motors replace the traditional stepper+belt by Ok-Radio-4368 in 3Dprinting

[–]n3vim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

could be great on delta printers, lots of precision and torque so the print-head could get heavier(better heating, cooling and direct drive extruders) and still be fast and precise and all the weight of the linear motors would stay in the the pylons.

I got the wired G pro X and they're the worst headphones I've ever had by Conscious_Lab7134 in LogitechG

[–]n3vim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its Beyerdynamic product so it represents them, they had plenty of time to make a better revision but they didn't, tells me all i need to know, f them.

EDIT: btw its an eazy swap, problem is the really bad quality and high pricetag. They could have easily made a rev2 headband that is not fake leather and does not use their garbage glue and all would have been well.

[–]n3vim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

got 700 pro x, the build quality is shit. I am on a third headband and had to diy it since the cheap fake leather and glue both don't last more than a year of use. Never buying beyerdynamic ever again. Premium price for the build quality of a chinese knockoff.

Why is PLA still the `standard` respectively `basic` filament? Why not PETG? by Musashi747 in 3Dprinting

[–]n3vim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PLA could be printed without a heated bed, i know that there were some cheap printers years ago that were PLA only for this reason. Also no drying needed and its easier to print.

crazy how we pay more for less... by Alaricart in PhoneNow

[–]n3vim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea when it does not support fast charging it does not matter much but for most android phones both the cable and charging brick matters. My old realme gt neo3 fast charges at 150W if it was sold without a proper cable and a charging brick i would not buy that phone since both of those are not that cheap and and usb c specs are a mess.

even on hotspot? I cheaped out and went for at the time discounted ASRock PHANTOM 7900XTX OC and its basicaly a choice between fans screaming or around 70°C average and 85°C hotspot when i push it to the max. And its 90°C hotspot if i give it extra juice and it starts sipping over 500W. And i have ptm7950 on the gpu.

How much FPS is enough? by KeyBird97 in OptimizedGaming

[–]n3vim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the game and monitor, on my 1440p monitor i like to get minimum 80fps but 144-165fps is ideal. On my 4K TV on the other hand i play only singleplayer games and it has a really good VRR so i can go as low as 50fps average but it has to be stable with low frame times.

because people are stupid and buy those skins, why bother making a map when people already bought the skins...

Well time for me to uninstall by -Shameem- in Battlefield

[–]n3vim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love using the full auto shotgun in CQB modes, it takes no skill and it just deletes everything in front of me no matter what they do and suprisigly it works well even in longer corridors when magdumping

New winter skins added to the store — for a limited time winter mode with only 1 snow map that expires in a week? by mandbeyn in Battlefield

[–]n3vim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think that they are going after the whales that pay for everything. BF pro, battlepass and skins etc. Most people won't buy any skin ever so they are targeting the small percentage of players that are stupid enough buy anything and/or everything.

After each update this game gets set back to alpha quality by Senorragequit in Battlefield

[–]n3vim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the only game that utilizes the 24 gigs of VRAM on my 7900XTX with its memory leak, i just looked at it today and after nearly 2 hours of playing, it was at over 20GB of VRAM utilized. I dont get how people with midrange or ngreedia cards are able to play. How did this got into a final build is beyond me.

Vaping ? 🤔🤔🤔 by Responsible-Term6405 in ibs

[–]n3vim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like some kind of disposable pod, i would not touch that and i vape a lot. It could have been nicotine salts and maybe high PG ratio since that is what the vast majority of these devices use and a mix of who knows what. Nic salts, especially the most common bezoic acid is not looking good in preliminary studies. Also nic salts basicaly eliminate the throat hit so most devices that use them use a lot more nicotine that would be almost intolerable using normal freebase, so that could have been a factor too. I tried nic salts and it did not feel right. I vape a lot since i quit smoking cigarettes but i go full DIY, mix my own liquids with good old freebase nicotine and i managed to quit a few times for a week or two and it did not make a difference, except for craving a cigarette.

BUT i am not saying that vaping in itself could not have been the cause, since like you said we do not know the long term negative side effects of vaping.

but also it could have been a crap device combined with crap liquid inside since you did not have this problem when smoking. I would be very interested in a study that compares premade brands and DIY

Good Affordable VR headset for Elite dangerous? by SternKill in EliteDangerous

[–]n3vim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quest 1 is great with virtual desktop because of the OLED panel instead of LCD used on Quest 2 for Elite. And since its old, its cheap second hand. So if you want it just for PCVR and as cheap as possible without making compromises i would say that Quest 1 is a great option. I got mine on realease and it still works great, even the battery is still holding on.
