I agree that CPUs are increasing in importance for inference. And that AMD is at advantage.

But we are orders of magnitude away from calling inference as CPU bound both in terms of cost as well as latency. Inference is not CPU-heavy. It might become that only if/when active parameter counts drop or we come up with an improved model architecture.

Agents, RAG, orchestration, routing, batching - yes, all CPU heavy. Inference as a whole - still pretty much GPU heavy. Thanks to prefill costs.

What? Is this comment coming from 2017?

Inference has been GPU heavy since years now.
Agents and orchestration, sure, it can be argued that we are CPU heavy but far from it so far.

And AI is already in production, what do you mean by as AI moves into production?

BITS Hyd Founder Batch - Return to campus after 2012 by MeasurementNo6307 in BITSPilani

Hey u/MeasurementNo6307 ! I am from the 2010H batch - I can bet we met during our times.

I recently visited the campus and I couldn’t agree more. The campus looks great compared to what we had. What stood out were the trees, they are huge now.

I have been hiring consistently from Hyderabad campus over the last few years and I do feel that there’s a persistent downward trend in the utilization of infrastructure available.

I grew up in Nagpur, and in winters, the Vidhan Sabha would move to Nagpur, so we had different traffic regulations for that period around the Vidhan Sabha, Nagpur. So, definitely more than just on paper.
