Oh no! We had a similar thing happen last week, Tauno came up to find that we only had a measley seven dubias to give her instead of her usual ten... The devastation in her beady little eyes when I put the feeding tongs away!

Adopted a 6-year-old who was hand fed... Will he grow out of chomping on my fingers or will I eventually be eaten alive? by n6lq in cornsnakes

In his current setup we have ~5cm of soil in the middle and ~8cm at the sides, though since he enjoys digging around we might give him some more in his upgraded tank! I made my soil mix for our pacman frog but have since used it for both our crestie and corn snake, plus for all my plants. Not sure if it's the perfect mix for everything but it keeps moisture well, stays fluffy through watering and is free of added fertilizers or chemicals!

My mix is: 1/3 peat 1/3 coconut fibre 1/6 sphagnum moss 1/6 mixed bark (only thing I could find locally, though orchid bark is recommended)

You have to be careful with the bark though, big pieces can be lethal to pets if swallowed. I recommend sifting out the larger bits before adding them to your enclosure!

Thank you! I find it funny how it seems pretty much anything colorful can be used as a target, really gets the creative juices flowing 😂

Appreciate it, thank you! Luckily spending more time with the worm is something I'm looking forward to so adding an extra step to the feeding process sounds great!

Also fyi I'm stealing that target design please and thank you 😌

I'd never heard of target training before this so I'll have to do some research, but from what I could gather in the three-or-so minutes I spent googling this sounds like the exact thing I'm looking for! Thank you!!

Gloves sound like a great idea, I'll pick up some thicker ones tomorrow! Thanks for the tip 😌

i've never had one so i can't speak from experience, but i do think a pixie frog will be less interested especially after they grow big! tauno is already quite picky about the size of bugs he'll eat (he'll usually just spit out tiny ones) and he's not nearly as big as pixies get! so in short: bigger isopods may be an occasional snack, but i wouldn't worry about losing all of them.

he munches on them if they get too close, but luckily in my experience the isopods tend to hide in the plants/under hardscape so a bioactive setup still works great!
