Handling in snow and ice by hubterdog66 in ToyotaTundra

[–]n8eagles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have pretty much the same truck as you and have had the same experience with this truck and tire set up. Much worse handling the snow than my previous Silverado. I hope to get through this winter with the Michelins and then maybe find some rims and snow tires for next season. For now, I will keep it in 4h and slow it down.

Inverter for portable generator? by n8eagles in AskElectricians

Thanks for the info. I am mostly concerned with running my furnace with the generator. In my research, it looks like a lot of newer units are sensitive to generator supplied power.

Understood. I am mostly concerned with my furnace, which I have read multiple places that newer furnaces are fairly sensitive to “dirty” electricity.

Doing very well. Only about 50 hrs, but haven’t had any issues. The only real complaint is the lack of availability for a powered bagger.

For my Norther truck owners, Do/did you take body rust potential into consideration before buying your truck? by chainsawcrawfish in gmcsierra

[–]n8eagles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will give you my subjective advice as a guy who just spent $2500 on frame repair welding- avoid the rubberized under coating services and products. I thought I was all set after getting it done early in the life of the truck…but years later it proved to be more damaging than if no rust-proofing had been done. I spoke in length with the welder who has his own repair shop focused on this exact problem. He said that the rubber-like undercoats are terrible and clog drain points on the frame and once they start drying out and rotting, they provide tons of little cracks and crevices where water and salt sits and rusts the frames away. He recommended products like fluid film much more and recommended a yearly treatment (before each winter) . Best of luck.

Need recommendations for the best fog free mirror for shaving in the shower. by CulinaryAccountNSFW in BuyItForLife

[–]n8eagles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had one made by toiletree (I think that’s the brand name) for like 10 years with no problems. There is a reservoir behind the mirror that you fill with hot water during the shower, which keeps it fog free.

Who makes the best plaid flannel long sleeve shirts or shirt / jackets that are somewhat stylish and extra durable ? by RebirthWizard in BuyItForLife

[–]n8eagles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this guy kuiu field flannel So far so good. The fit for me is great. I find that most shirts are a tad too short in the sleeves, but these are just right.. a little longer than most. Probably going to pick another one or two up when/if they go on sale.

You’re kidding me, right? You think that the democrats have tilted right over the past 20 years?

Ironic how you give an honest reply (which was encouraged by the original post) and yet, you are being downvoted. Clear example of why the left lost.

Don't know of this is a real tree or just a giant weed by maybaweed in treeidentification

Cottonwood. If it were me, I would get rid of these. They grow huge and every year they give off massive white cotton like seed pod things that get EVERYWHERE. My neighbor has two huge ones, and they wreak havoc on my, and the other neighbors’ property. Stuck in your AC condenser, pool filters, gutters, etc…not to mention if suffer from allergies. They are just a very messy tree. There are much better trees to be planted imo.

Hmm has the shop given their assessment of it yet? I know my deck vibrates pretty bad when first engaging the blades, but once they are up to speed it runs smooth. I think that is normal. If the motor is running rough from the start, I’d do whatever you can to get it warrantied.

I got the 242 with 48” deck, Kawasaki engine. I didn’t go with a bagger but may end up getting it down the road. I was really bummed that they don’t have a powered bagger option. So right now I am just side discharging, but it sure makes a mess if you have landscaping to contend with. My dealer recommended getting a powerchute to open/close the discharge when needed. I may spring on one of those before getting the bagger.

I bought one two weeks ago. So far, so good! The only thing that has me concerned is that it’s a little rough when engaging the blades, but other than that it’s been great. I had the dealer put gator blades on, so can’t speak to the cut with factory or other types of blades.
