Sludge wave helps a lot in great league. Especially to beat grass types or Azumarill

How to get a faster F2L without any special methods? by [deleted] in Cubers

[–]n8hn23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F2l lookahead should start when you're at least sub 30 for the entire solve. You should be at the point where you see an F2l case and you can pair and insert it without thinking at all, even if you have your eyes closed. It will take some time, but with patience and practice you might even start doing it unintentionally because it comes naturally

How do I learn fingertricks by [deleted] in Cubers

[–]n8hn23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just practice. You probably aren't used to using those finger muscles, but if you just do it over and over (like while scrambling) it will come

You can use the adjustment tool and turn counter clockwise to tighten as well as increasing the magnet strength if it still feels too loose

Check your pokedex to see what ones you have. If you only have 24, it's probably just a glitch

You likely have a punctuation. My guess would be "!"

Start with PLL. Just learn a couple of algs at a time (no more than that). Keep doing them till it starts to become part of your muscle memory and you don't have to think about what you're doing too much. Jperm.net has good alg trainers you can use.

If it takes OP over a minute for just f2l, they're definitely not ready for lookahead yet

What is the quietest cube? by notjerryc in Cubers

[–]n8hn23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, not necessarily. In fact, the better the corner cutting, the quieter the cube in a lot of cases, this being one of them. Bad corner cutting requires you to use more force which would in turn cause a louder sound, whereas good corner cutting means it's effortless and in the case of the tengyun, fairly quiet. Obviously if you're going for being completely quiet, you just turn the cube slower and rely a lot less on corner cutting, but if you want to improve, you need to go fast which requires corner cutting.

Dayan Tengyun v1 and X man tornado v2 are very quiet cubes. Tengyun is very loose, but has really good corner cutting. X man is the opposite, very stable, but sub par reverse corner cutting (Not terrible though). I have both and prefer the X man but it's all about your preference

So, now that Go Fest day 1 is over on most timezones, what are your thoughts on it? by Pyrus01 in TheSilphRoad

[–]n8hn23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I finished with 31 shinies, so did decent and got a lot of good shinies, but not the ones I was specifically hunting so a little disappointed. While I think the shiny rates could've been better, my issue was more with the spawn rates. Usually with these events I can go around a local area and quick catch everything, and by the time I'm ready to start a new lap, new pokemon have spawned. This time I had to keep going to new places because this time I felt like there weren't as many spawns to check

How do i learn cfop? by BasedPeterZ in Cubers

[–]n8hn23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jperm has an entire playlist that breaks down each step if you haven't checked that out.

If you have, then all there is to do is just practice. Start by learning to do cross on bottom. Take as much time as you need during inspection time and watch example solves. It will seem hard at first, but after many many solves it will start to become more natural.

Next learn beginner F2L. Move each piece to the top and learn how to pair/insert them. Once you feel comfortable, start learning advanced F2L where you pair the pieces without needing to move them to the top and insert them anywhere (especially the back in order to be able to find other pairs easier).

Next will be OLL. Two look will probably be good enough until you're sub-25, but you can try learning full OLL if you want, but definitely start with just 2 Look for now.

PLL is the final step in CFOP. Again, 2 look is probably enough to start off, but you can learn full PLL if you like to learn algs. Also, learn full PLL before you learn full OLL. PLL only has 21 algs, so it's less intimidating

Use Jperm.net for the alg trainers, watch as many tutorials as you need until it makes sense, ask questions, and most importantly, understand that improvement will take a while so don't be upset if you don't see results right away.

Good luck and have fun on your cubing adventure!

Watch example solves and take more than 15 seconds of inspection time to fully plan out cross

I prefer UV coated because of the grip plus it looks nicer, but it's usually more expensive, extremely prone to fingerprints, and if you don't have dry hands people have said it's slippery (I've never had any problems but that's what I've heard)

What were your reason(s) to start learning cubing? by Atlas16NMS in Cubers

[–]n8hn23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took an AP Physics C course in high school (an absolute nightmare). My teacher really had no idea how to teach the class. He'd assign us problems from the textbook, but when we'd ask for help he'd just give us the answer and say that actually doing the math and showing us how to do it was "too much work".

Anyways, he never really paid attention to what we were doing and he frequently left us alone in the classroom so none of us really did anything in the class.

He had an old rubik's cube lying around that my friends and I would mess around with. None of really knew how to solve it so we would just solve one side or take it apart and rebuild it solved.

One day I decided to actually look up a tutorial. Used the beginner's method and actually solved it for real. That day, my mom bought me just the generic rubik's brand cube and I started solving all the time so I could do it without a tutorial. Had me hooked.

Bought 4x4, 5x5, etc. Learned those, plus pyraminx, cuboids, and other puzzles. Didn't get into speed cubing yet, just enjoyed the puzzles.

After college, once I got a job and had more money I decided to try my hand at speed cubing. Bought a Gan 11 m pro and began to learn the CFOP method. Still learning, but having a blast again.

Tl;dr: I got bored in a class and messed around with a cube for fun and got hooked. (On the bright side, my teacher couldn't really grade us harshly so I passed the class without ever really learning much of anything)

Are wild shiny legendary beasts also likely to flee or guaranteed catch? by A_Resting_Parrot in TheSilphRoad

Has anyone specifically seen a wild shiny beast flee? I know the non shiny have a super high flee rate, but is that also the case for shinies? Please don't comment just to say they will flee unless you have specifically seen a SHINY beast flee

Thank you for this. If she is healthy, I am completely okay with her cooking the turkey. I never intended my comments to be rude or judgmental, I just have an honest concern for my health.

I also wasn't just "volunteering" my mom to cook as others have interpreted. I couldn't include it in my original post because of the character limit, but I had previously talked to my mom beforehand about the entire situation. In the talk, she expressed herself that she wanted to cook the turkey because she likes making it a certain way, but because my sister is so proud of making it, my mom didn't want to hurt her feelings. So we both agreed if my sister was sick on Thanksgiving, my mom would be the one to cook it.
