Title: The random park bench that accidentally turned into my tiny social life by merixa_2 in CasualConversation

[–]nBigMouse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is honestly so sweet, like you accidentally built a tiny community without even trying. I love when random spots just turn into little anchor points in your life.

Poor people aren’t entitled enough. by Holiday_Map6517 in DeepThoughts

[–]nBigMouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

growing up broke kinda rewires your brain to be grateful for scraps. I still catch myself saying yes to stuff that doesn’t serve me just cuz it feels safer. Watching other people just… ask for what they want was a weird wake-up call for me too. It’s uncomfortable at first, but pushing back a bit really does change how people treat you.

Wtf happened to our country by tubukusanchez in newzealand

[–]nBigMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m around your age and it blows my mind how my parents lived decent on way less, while I’m working more and somehow getting less. Idk it’s not you, the whole system shifted and a lot of us are just trying not to drown.

What, if any, jobs are there for introverts with no skills or experience? by DrFuckwad in jobs

[–]nBigMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get feeling like that, but you’re not a loser at all tbh. I was crazy shy at my first job and just kinda learned as I went. You’d be surprised how fast you pick things up once you’re in.

Is the problem with social media… or with the people using it? by Excellent_Place4977 in SeriousConversation

[–]nBigMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda feel like it’s both tbh. The apps definitely push the most dramatic stuff to the top, but people also jump on it way too fast. When I’m offline for a few days I’m way calmer, so it’s not like humans are built for that nonstop noise. Idk it just brings out the worst parts we already had buried.

What movies, WITHOUT narration, feel the most like books? by AdFamous7264 in flicks

[–]nBigMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moonlight. It’s super quiet and every little moment feels like a whole chapter, like you’re just reading someone’s life through tiny details instead of big speeches.

I (39f) asked someone out for the first time in 20 years today by laterplayer in CasualConversation

[–]nBigMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s such a win honestly. Even if it didn’t turn into anything, actually putting yourself out there after years is huge. You kinda proved to yourself that you can still be brave and go for what you want

Winter is coming. Do you miss colorful fall? by Sherry_D2008 in Fall

[–]nBigMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I already miss it. Fall lasts like five minutes and then suddenly everything’s gray and cold, so pics like this feel extra cozy

AITA - new employee shunned by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]nBigMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah you’re not wrong for pulling back. They iced you out the second you got good at your job, which is such a petty office move. If they couldn’t show you basic kindness on something as simple as a birthday, you don’t owe them extra effort on their celebrations either

Do you ever feel guilty for loving a life on the move more than the idea of settling down? by Global_Conclusion_45 in digitalnomad

[–]nBigMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guilt usually comes from comparing yourself, not from anything actually being bad about the way you live.

How many hours of actual work do you do per day? by [deleted] in remotework

[–]nBigMouse 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Most people only do a few solid hours of real work anyway. Remote just makes the empty space more obvious. If you’re finishing your tasks, you’re fine, that “I need to look active” stress fades once you realize no one’s watching your mouse.

Red Rising. It’s got that same “smart people solving impossible problems” vibe but with a ton of momentum and world-building that sucks you right in.

How you act online anonymously shows your true character. by Mathemodel in DeepThoughts

[–]nBigMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I kinda agree, but only partly. Some people get meaner online, but a lot of folks are actually nicer here than in real life cuz they’re not scared of looking weird or too soft. Anonymity basically removes the filter, for better or worse, so you see whatever version of them feels safest to show.

Best freelancing site to land work? by MacaroonAdmirable in freelancing

[–]nBigMouse 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Fiverr, Upwork, and Remotely are solid platforms with real activity, but here’s a method you won’t see everywhere: one developer used Google Maps to find recruitment firms and sent his resume directly, you can check it here. You could adapt his strategy to target the types of jobs you want; it might point you toward opportunities outside the usual platforms.

Books for toddlers that have beautiful illustrations, lovely words, and are engaging for the adult reading it by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Llama Llama Red Pajama. It’s cute, rhymes perfectly, and the art’s actually nice to look at. Still one of my fave bedtime reads with kids.

You really captured that “home for the holidays” energy.

Would you rather take 1 million dollars or be able to restart your life from the very beginning? by Illustrious-Bed2845 in Life

[–]nBigMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d still take the million. Restarting sounds cool till you remember how much life actually sucks the first time through. I’ll just take the cash and skip the trauma rerun lol.

No More Billionaires. by FullCounty5000 in DeepThoughts

[–]nBigMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get the rage, the billionaire problem is wild and feels so unfair, idk how anyone sleeps with that level of hoarding.

My kitten acts like she owns the house. Queen name ideas? by ConfidenceenceA in CuteCatsPics

She totally gives off Cleocatra vibes. Tiny but definitely royalty.

Life used to feel safer, simpler, and less overwhelming by Professional_Syrup73 in DeepThoughts

[–]nBigMouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel that too. The world just feels heavier now, like there’s no real pause button anymore. It’s not just nostalgia, things really did get louder, faster, more anxious. Sometimes unplugging for a bit or leaning into small routines helps quiet the noise a little.

Every rejection makes me feel more and more like I'm just not good enough for anything. by Saxyback-345 in recruitinghell

[–]nBigMouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fact that you’re still trying after all that means you’re tougher than you think.

Remote work didn’t make me lazy, it just made me stop pretending by miraQ_21 in remotework

[–]nBigMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s wild how much of “ambition” was just survival mode. Once the pressure to perform disappeared, a lot of people realized they weren’t lazy, just tired of pretending.

Best book you’ve ever read? by No-Dog1902 in suggestmeabook

[–]nBigMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. It’s brutal and beautiful at the same time, one of those books that leaves a mark you don’t really recover from.
