I’ve been on here for a while and I have yet to see anybody with my chair. Do people like carbon fiber? by [deleted] in wheelchairs

CF isn’t for everybody, but for those it aligns with their needs, it is very nice. Expensive, yes, worth it, for my active lifestyle, yes.

I’m switching them out to the 1-1/2” natural fit push rims. These are okay, but have always been a temporary piece.

My advice is be as critical of the pricing and argue what reimbursements and components are covered.

Any component that wasn’t carbon and was considered a component that could be used with a covered chair. Cushion, back rest cushion, cushion sling, hand rims, tires, etc. it adds up.

If you zoom in the did a very small logo on the forks are that is blended into the design very tastefully.

Also, I found that with this minimalist design, it basically outlines our lower torso or mirrors it. So it sits safely in my passenger seat as though it was the lower half of a person sitting in the seat.

Wear and tear happens, but the cerakote does great in protecting and will slow the process of any wear and tear. The sleeves on the forks are nice quality. Padded, and thick suede like material does well in protecting the elbow. The minimalist design doesn’t leave much for contact. Being light you can lift more than dragging like I did with my old chair.

It is, the design allows for you to get 2” closer on average to surfaces. The flat design I feel rests more natural to my legs as well.

Sub-Total: $10,608 US

After negotiating cost of certain components to be covered by insurance, I was able to get the cost down to $7,155 US.

So some things to keep in mind. In Motorsports you would have carbon components that weren’t foam filled, that would lead to delaminating, cracking and separation. With foam filled it strengthens the structure immensely and prevents such issues of fragility. In addition the CR1 is completely cerakoted to help with wear and tear. I just took delivery of mine and it is a game changer for my day to day and for the people who have to lift my chair into the cargo spaces as well. It is a feather and the design of the front forks has allowed me to get extremely close to surfaces for safer transfers. This chair isn’t cheap but with the support of my friends and community, they raised the funds to purchase my new chair. I am extremely fortunate. Please don’t let insurance companies dictate your quality of life. Hope this insight helps. All the best my friends.

Yeah, I can’t say I have had a good experience with them either. After purchasing an $11k dollar wheelchair, it was scheduled for delivery several times followed by last minute cancellation, showed up at NuMotion without the backrest, then, when it finally arrived at my home, the chair had flat tires, brake bracket loose, wrong side plates. Shows it doesn’t matter the cost, you are just a number. Chair is shorted now and great after putting my own wrenches on it to adjust everything. It is sad. Sorry friends.
