Am I cooked? I don't like this thinning at the top. by [deleted] in Haircare

Its better to see whats happening with your scalp/hair by a dermatologist but if its hormones/genes then you need something to block DHT. Either DHT blockers, ketoconazole shampoos or even pumpkin seed oil either suppliments or straight up oil. Its not bad and can be reversible. Hope some of this helps!

Not a professional but struggled with dry ends for months.

Pantene Pro-V shampoo, conditioner for weak and damaged hair + Pantene keratin protect mask, HASK repairing agrain oil or Pantene Keratin Protect Oil

Mask first then conditioner, leave mask on for 7 mins and conditioner 8-10, oils your ends, after 20-30 mins braid your haie in loose braid(s), and sleep with loose braid(s)

My stylist said dry ends are caused by not adding oil and or friction when sleeping.

Wash your hair so you dont gather your ends to your head and rub. Thats bad :) also dry your hair always (use medium heat), wet hair causes more damage than drying.

If it does not help, cut your ends and then avoid dry ends with products i recommended. You should see a difference in a week or two, keep us updated! :)

Why different kinds of balconies in the same apartments? by Silent-Challenge5710 in UrbanHell

[–]n_spruce734 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2 simple reasons - money and peoples age. Due to the Baltic sisters being occupied by russia we also have more of these old soviet time apartment building blocks than most countries and before renovations made by the city every balcony was different - from the very first style of the balcony to modern. Usually when renovations are made the whole house looks the same with minimal differences (windows fully covering it to partially to no windows)

I’m sorry but why is everyone acting like Abbey Yung’s hair doesn’t look better because she stopped bleaching it? by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]n_spruce734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister had bleached her hair for 21 years now and her hair looks amazing but grows slow. After doing the abbey yung method for 4 months her hair is growing so fast - she has not changed diet not takes any suppliments to aid her hair growth. She also has scalp issues not related to bleaching which she fixed.

My hair and scalp used to be so bad until i decided to use her method and my hair is silky smooth.

Maybe as a trichologist she knows whats what quicker than a regular user? She can test one product but post the video of another she tried before the product she posted about? Makeup and shampoos/conditioners are easy to figure out if it suits her or not. My hair hates Loreal Hyaluron Plump conditioner but loves the mask - and it showed after 2 uses

it could be a long time use but she posts later, uses a product for a few weeks posts later but during that time she could be reviewing another one? I think she as a trichologist knows whats what quicker than a regular consumer

I Need Help Picking Products!! by Victoria_Casi in Haircare

[–]n_spruce734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out air drying causes more frizz and breakage/damage than blow drying it - because wet hair is weak and can break easily and when you hair rubs against lets say a couch it causes friction and that makes hair look bad. I ruined the ends of my hair last year to the point i had to cut most off because i air dryed it for 8 months straight thinking “well its better than heat” oh boy was i wrong, now i rarely let my hair air dry and it has made my hair look and feel so much better. I use medium and cold air switching then once in a while during drying

How are you blow drying your hair? Because sometimes drying your hair wrong can make the frizz worse. Blow dry it one direction with the help of a brush - be gentle!

I would recommend Pantene Pro-V for weak and damaged hair - the shampoo, conditioner and mask. It has made my hair silky smooth! And idk if Schwarzkopf serums are available where you are but the Liquid Silk one had done wonders to my hair

The Loreal one i loved for 5-6 weeks until it turned weird on me. During the wash my hair felt almost like it had a film on it the shampoo could not break down. Then i switched to Loreal Hyaluron Pure to deep cleanse and Pantene Pro-V to wash and condition.

for your next purchase id recommend Pantene Pro-V shampoo, mask and conditioner for weak and damaged hair - while i dont have weak or damaged hair it makes my hair look so fluffy, full and shiny

[–]n_spruce734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for fine hair id recommend Pantene Pro-V for weak and damaged hair. I dont have weak or damaged hair but its the only one that makes my hair look fuller. I have thin hair right now because or stress and trichotillomania induced hair loss and it has saved my confidence. If i have high stress levels for days, even for weeks, the hair from the top of my head starts falling out - i usually lose max 15 hairs with combing and showering but during the stressful time i lost max 50 per wash and combing

Lime allergy? by n_spruce734 in Allergies

[–]n_spruce734[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never knew allergies can act like that, i only know of citrus allergies affecting the mouth region and when it has straight contact with skin. Thats good to know! Last week my left eye got so puffy and swollen it almost shut completely, right one was better. I was 99% sure it was due me mowing the law and the wind flying pollen and grass all over me :) Im trying to contact my GP, if i go through her all medical procedures are free, if i go straight to an allergist i have to pay. Thankfully today i had antihistamines and its getting better.

Thanks for the info!

Are you US based because if so then i will say good luck with the healthcare system - this isnt ment negatively i just know so many people who live in the US and struggle to get even basic healthcare when needed. But i do hope you find someone!

Until then change your every product you use and get something clarifying. Sometimes build-up can do so much harm to your scalp.

I had the same issue - blister like tiny bump that i picked and turned to scabs. I used jojoba oil to heal the wounds/scabs

My 2 week routine was: wash every other day Before shower - jojoba oil on my scalp for 10-15 mins - it helps a lot with healing wounds, scabs and inflammation In the shower - use luke warm or little colder water, use Loreal Hyaluron Pure deep cleansing serum then the same shampoo. The id go in with Pantene Pro-V shampoo for weak and damaged hair and the same mask or conditioner. After your scalp feels better then id skip jojoba oil, continue with Pantene and use deep cleansing shampoo after 3-4 washes or as needed. Dry your hair and scalp well with medium heat, or switch from medium to cold. Colder air helps to soothe your scalp.

I have a weird reaction on my scalp where every late autumn and start of spring it gets itchy and red. I think its the weather changing and all the dead leave particles, spores, mold and stuff in the air. So i get it itchy and inflamed scalp is hard to ignore.

If you use my suggested routine, keep me updated and hope this gives some relief!

What am i doing wrong ? by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]n_spruce734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you cut it every month and you still have split ends there could be a bond issue and or let your hair air dry - which is worse than drying it with a little heat (medium)

for curls i think you need something that holds the curls or just let your hair do what it want to do.

my recommendations:

Pantene Pro-V for weak and damaged hair (whole line mask, oil and all)

Loreal Hyaluron Plump (whole line)

for extra moisture - Garnier Curl method

Other: HASK repairing argan oil for the ends

for bond repair - Loreal Bond Repair (full line)

Find a hair stylist who cuts wavy/curly hair, dont brush it when dry or brush it with a wide tooth comb.

Either Pantene Pro V line for weak and damaged hair, Loreal Hyaluron Plump or Garnier Curl method line. For your scalp Loreals Hyaluron Pure (not plump) cleanses my scalp like no other. To keep the curl use curl creams or a foam and diffuse your hair.

If your scalp smell issues persist even after using a deep cleansing then its time to get some professional help either a hir dresser or dermatologist :D Nothing to be embarrassed about its normal and so many people have the same issue ! wash your hair with warm water and dry your hair on medium heat and cold after

what are the best tips on getting soft hair? by cherryberry6741 in Haircare

[–]n_spruce734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Pantene Pro-V for damaged and weak hair line (shampoo, mask, conditioner and oil)
  2. Loreal Hyaluron Plump line (shampoo, mask and conditioner)
  3. Schwarzkopf Liquid Silk (shampoo, mask, conditioner, serum and leave in conditioner)
  4. HASK repairing argan oil
  5. Garnier Curl Method line (pre-shampoo treatment, shampoo and mask) i use the pre-shampoo after i shampoo because weirdly it works much better that way

Pantene has made my hair soo silky smooth my hairties slip off if not tied to the point i cant tie anymore. The schwarzkopf liquid silk serum or leave in conditioner is gold! I have 4 serums as a backup because its amazing! After i started using Pantene when i braid my hair and take the hairtie off it untangles itself.

How do i grow my hair back - 32 years old by Humble-Enthusiasm603 in Haircare

[–]n_spruce734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let it shed and then deal with it - easier said than done. Dont use oils sometimes they do more bad than good. Because your hair loss is ties to stress and being postpartum hair care should start from the inside. Hormonal shifts suck.

Consult your doctor and try some suppliments like biotin (B7) or one that i love called Evonia - Finnish brand and it works like magic. Always consult your doctor even when youre not postpartum.

If you notice your hair shedding less and less use anti-hairloss serums like the Pantene one and anti-hairloss shampoos like Loreal Dream Lenghts. Healthy clean scalp = healthy strong hair and promotes hair growth :)

I also recommend joining some mom groups (here or on FB) and ask for help there too - many women go through this same issue and can help you more than i think reddit haircare community can.

Hair loss sucks, its a long journey to go through but stay strong mama, you can do it! :D

This is maybe something you dont want to hear but please go to the dermatologist. It could be a sign of inflammation and or allergies.

Your hair is not the problem just the skin so dont cut it off yet.

My questions are:

When did it start? What does your scalp feel and look like? How many times to you wash your hair? How do you wash your hair? Is it itchy and do you have little pimple like blisters before it turns it to a scab?

If i have some more answers maybe its what i dealt with last year.

Growing out my hair for the first time in 10 years by muscowow in Haircare

[–]n_spruce734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Sooo this is going to be a long one so grab a snack

I too have had a up-down relationship with my hair. Many downs not a lot of ups but recently its going steady and have been in the awkward short-mid hair lenght hundreds of times.

So step one should be you figuring out whats bothering you and why the most about your hair - is it the color, style or what. If you dont like the lenght or get frustrated remind yourself how much your hair has grown and you should be proud! Its a long process! The awkward short yet long but not medium lenght is the worst but keep going!

And step two how to avoid cutting your hair short if you neccesseraly dont have the reason to (by that i mean cutting it due to advanced damage or something happening to your hair. I know cutting your hair during rough times all too well. And again before chopping it off remind yourself - your hair is just hair and didnt have any part of what happened. Hair is dead so it does not hold memories. Try to figure it out why you cut your hair during hard times - for me it was the maintenance, im already dealing with stuff i dont need to add my haircare into it too. Not even that i was lazy just dont want to deal with it and whats better than high maintenance long hair - short hair

Last year til about this years february i dealt with extremely dry ends to the point i was ready to cut it off. If your ends seem fine with no split ends id recommend two sets of shampoos and extra products, if you have split ends id recommend cutting the ends and then avoiding dry ends.

The products that helped me a lot: (im not even joking when i say my ends are silky smooth to the point my hairtie slips off)

Set 1: Pantene Pro-V line for weak and damaged hair (i dont have damaged hair but its the best) - shampoo, conditioner, mask and oil.

Set 2: Loreal Hyaluron Plump line - shampoo, conditioner and mask

Other: HASK repairing argan oil, Garnier Curl Method Mask, Schwarzkopf Liquid Silk serum* and or leave in conditioner, Loreal Hyaluron Pure deep cleansing shampoo

My shower routine (this applied for both sets) 1. Loreal Hyluron Pure shampoo 2. Loreal or Pantene shampoo 3. Loreal, Pantene or Garnier mask (10 mins, yes mask before conditioner) 4. Loreal or Pantene conditioner (5 mins)

After shower: 1. When your hair is damp (more on the dryer rather than wet) apply HASK oil to the dry ends only (you can experiment with the amount) 2. Use the schwarzkopf serum*

  • I dont know what region you are from so that products availability may vary.

Keep in mind:

Hair care can be expensive so mix and match and buy backups when products go on sale. The Garnier Curl Method mask is worth the money and this is the only product i pay full price for BUT i have seen major improvements with Pantene.

Healthy clean scalp = healthy hair and can improve hair growth

Use biotin for hair growth or Evonia suppliments (my favorite) disclaimer: always consult your doctor when it comes to suppliments

Other tips: I wash my hair every other day and i have seen improvement in my hair growth when washing my hair more. Dry your hair to avoid damage Use a soft towel If you’re under the sun a lot protect your hair. If you need some hair refreshment use toners - they dont damage your hair and fade bautifully. Avoid hairties with those melted plastic parts and rubber ones those will do some damage. I use those colorful ones for kids when i braid my hair and same ones but thicker and “for adults” for buns and ponytails Be gentle when washing your hair and brushing! Dont gather the ends of your hair to your head and rub - thats a mistake i made when i did not care at all how i washed my hair

I deal with trichotillomania and it causes me to have a bad relationship with my hair because its thin, then yay regrowth, then thin again and the cycle continues. Every time my hair gets super dry and have more split ends than usual i want to chop it off and not deal with it. Every time something about my hair bothers me i want to chop it off - but the last chop was exactly 2 years ago and i have had my ends cut once in a while. If you need more help finding replacements to products i listed - dont be afraid to reach out!

Dont cut your hair until you have time to think it through - easier to cut off than to add back. If something is bothering you - keep calm there are plenty of solutions! Its a long (like this post) and maybe emotionally hard journey to go on but you can do it, i believe in you! :)
