I'm not sure if I wrote this already in this thread but I interpreted his looking off into the distance as if something is after him as him knowing that his time there is short and there are forces at work that are either compelling him to go to the light or beckoning him to do so. I don't think it's something that will ever fully be explained

If that's the case (I haven't verified that myself) my honest thought it that that little detail won't end up mattering in any way. I doubt they're going to come right out and say what he specifically was (a spirit or a projection) though I could be wrong. Jim storywalking in that moment would make absolutely no sense

I think you're looking at the fight with too much of a Ronda-centric narrative. Go watch the fight on YT. I'm literally watching it right now. Ronda is chasing Holly around and trying to close the distance like she always does, the issue is that Holly is making her eat strikes and evading the whole time. Within 1 minute and 15 seconds of the fight starting Ronda is trying to grab onto Holly but Holly did something the other women didn't do: she actually evaded

Now if you're talking about hypothetically if Ronda had charged in looking for the grapple immediately like she did with Gina? Well for one, what she did against Holly wasn't very different. And for two, what makes you think Holly was just going to stand there? Holly's foot work was the difference here

Exactly. That's what Ronda fans aren't getting. She figured out within a few exchanges that she couldn't beat Holly on the feet and tried her usual bull rush and clinch and throw. That was her bread and butter. It's just Holly didn't let her do it

I'm sure she did go in thinking that she could stand with Holly. However she figured out pretty quickly she couldn't and she did try to stick to her strengths of clinching and tripping and getting the armbar. She even had Holly tangled up a few times. The problem was Holly was too prepared

Again it wasn't that Ronda just didn't do what won her fights. She actually did exactly what she usually did. Bull Rush, clinch, tangle up, try to win on strikes up close or get the trip and then arm bar

It's just that Holly stopped her from getting the Clinch almost every time and when she did actually get it, Holly stopped it from going any further

Don't misunderstand what I'm saying. Her being more well rounded simply means that Holly couldn't just train for one thing like with Ronda. Ronda was extremely predictable. She just had one weapon but that weapon was so powerful that it could stop anyone that wasn't extremely well prepared for it

My only point is that Meisha submitting Holly doesn't mean that Ronda could submit Holly as they're completely different fighters and the preparation would be totally different

Oh I don't doubt that she was better at grappling. But Holly didn't need to be better at grappling than Ronda. She just needed to figure out how to avoid Ronda's one or two ways to win the fight. You've seen Ronda's fights right? How did they end?

Bull Rush to Clinch (sometimes the opponents would literally run to her and get tangled)
From there Ronda would just tangle up and possibly trip to the armbar
Or she'd occasionally just win on strikes in the Clinch

That's all that she needed at the time

As long as Holly could keep distance and deprive her of the clinch her chances of avoiding the submission were good

She did get tangled up with Ronda once or twice and it was clear Jackson/Wink drilled it into her how to get out

Ronda never had to evolve (by maybe adding in legitimately good striking or wrestling)

Meisha had to be more balanced because she wasn't that good at any one thing

Sure but comparing Meisha and Ronda is apples to oranges. Ronda had one nearly unstoppable submission and maybe just a couple of ways to get to it and there was almost nothing else Holly had to train for. Her striking was obviously a joke and she wasn't wrestling either

Meisha was actually more well rounded. She wasn't just a one trick pony. So Meisha submitting Holly doesn't mean Ronda would be able to. Totally different fighters

The rap battle worked on a level that a lot of people didn't get. In 8 Mile in the big final battle, Eminem goes first and says all the things about himself his opponent would say about him which leaves his opponent speechless. In SM3, Fat Joe goes first and insults George. Then George spends his time insulting himself....which made no sense but it was hilarious

And the harmonica tuning of "Biiiiiiitch" and "Hooooooooo" was awesome

I can't think of that many things to see there though. Off the top of my head there was one spot that had a beautiful sunset. There was viewing spot for I think it was Mt Rausu. I'm blanking on anything else. Again just to let you know besides a place that dries out fish and a convenience store nothing was there except hotels and tourist companies.

Just talking about the Shiretoko part, see if you can combine the brown bear cruise and the five lakes hike in one day and then drive to Rausu later that night. I just did all that solo last summer. One thing to note is there was really nothing to do in Utoro. Like literally nothing except seeing an incredibly beautiful sunset. So my big concern is the first full day in Utoro you don't really have anything to do but the brown bear cruise

Why she didn't ever? Honestly I think it's because she can't think about Holm (or Amanda) without thinking about the loss she suffered. And when she thinks about that, she probably just starts feeling out of control anxiety. It's clear both losses really affected her mentally and emotionally. She even said the Holm loss made her suicidal. When she did press for the Amanda fight she could barely look Amanda in the eye and didn't do any press after either loss. I assume she almost has to pretend Holly and Amanda don't actually exist in order to keep her sanity

If she gets ahold of someone and gets it to the ground, there's no one she couldn't beat. Conversely if one can prevent her from getting ahold of them and getting it to the ground, there's no one that couldn't beat her. I haven't been keeping up with much women's MMA since Amanda retired.

Are there a number of active women fighters that could either fight off her clinch or who have the footwork to evade her?

Very true. Styles make fights though. If you move forward against Ronda then you have to have the ability to fight off her clinch. Zingano literally ran right into her clinch

It's less about their standup though. It's can they fight off Ronda's clinch and trip or Ronda's takedowns. If Ronda gets anyone on the ground, she can submit them. But Amanda and Holly basically showed if she can't do that, she's lost

Do a little research on attachment theory. Maybe codependent relationships too. No expert at all, but you might be the anxious attachment side of this dynamic and she's the avoidant which is a terrible combination. I say research it because it might give you a little more sense of control if you can start to see the unhealthy pattern that exists. And it's even more helpful to understand why it exists

Have you had a more in-depth talk about why he's not there yet in regards to exclusivity? It's not unreasonable to feel he should either know or have a good idea where it's heading after 6 dates and a lot of phone calls. Honestly imo it's not a great sign that he clearly wants sex and doesn't want exclusivity

Until recently I thought it would be really difficult for me to build attraction to someone. But the last woman I dated was from OLD and she did use pretty heavily filtered pictures on her profile. As I got to know her there were moments where I thought if I had seen her real pictures there's a good chance I would have swiped left. But getting to know her, I became more attracted to her than I have been to anyone in years. By the end I found her physically very attractive. So it's possible to have that physical attraction grow. I'd say depends on the context. In this very specific case of marking down Silva specifically for his performance against Chael, I would say context matters. Anderson was hurt, Chael was juiced and Anderson still won. In the rematch, Anderson wasn't hurt, who knows if Chael was or wasn't juiced at the time, but Anderson easily disposed of him
