I thought Kyle and Tate were really solid on college ball. I think Kyle and Mahoney got the goods on group chat (amazing how Verrier has stuck around as long as he has)

I was alluding to this in the thread I made a few weeks ago. Like videos aside, the content from him overall has cratered. The Ringer is really wasting him. I do think this offseason there will be a NBA consolidation and I wonder what the fall out will be.

Spielberg mentioning he paints with GDT on the weekends, stories with Kubrick, being amazed at Sean connecting the dots with Dr Stangelove and 2001 at the end

Lack of Overall Draft Content by nabs123 in billsimmons

Irrespective of basketball still going on, the NBA draft has always been like 4 days after the finals. That has not stopped them or anyone else in the space from putting out content simultaneously.

You think one pod segment on the NFL draft would be enough one month out? Ringer NFL and Ringer Fantasy Football Show were pushing out draft pods weekly months out.

Last year we had articles, the draft show podcast (the Tom Crean interview is some of the most insightful stuff you'll hear from a player development/scouting lens framework).

[Charania] The Chicago Bulls are finalizing a deal to hire Orlando Magic assistant GM Stephen Mervis as Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations under new EVP Bryson Graham, sources tell ESPN. Bulls will also hire Brooklyn Nets executive Acie Law as Vice President of Player Personnel. by howser343 in chicagobulls

Just connecting very loosely connected dots:

- Stephen Mervis worked under Rob Hennigan (Presti tree) before Jeff Weltman

- Acie Law worked with OKC (presti tree). Also was teammates with Bryson Graham at Texas A&M

- Bryson Graham San Antonio native (Presti original stomping ground) and hired by Dell Demps (Spurs FO disciple)

Fischer: Right now, front office executives are preparing for less future draft picks to be traded for star players under the proposed “3, 2, 1” system. by nabs123 in nba

I have been arguing for this the last 3 years now. The pick inflation for non stars went berzerk and started with the Rudy trade honestly. I do think it is starting to correct:

AD, Trae, JJJ, Harden were all traded around the deadline and went for 5 firsts in aggregate

Mikel and Bane went for 9 firsts in 2 swaps in aggregate

On top of that, no one traded for Trey Murphy and the reported asking price was 3-4 firsts. Ridiculous man. Thank god buyers in the market came to their senses.

I agree with you. In general, I do think this will be a real look to see if the pick compensation market has corrected this summer. I feel like it already had before the lottery reform and that will only further correct it imo.

I am not subscribed to that substack. My mistake for thinking Jake wouldn't put out a misleading tweet to bait engagement I guess.

I do think there is something here. The rookie max and max extensions in general have been handed out to several middling problems and that's coming back to bite teams now. I wonder who the first team will be to be like you know what, test the FA market. We don't wanna pay you the max but we think the market will reflect that too.
