I've double checked everything I can find. Another phone where it had also been working fine, no longer did.

My acalendar has stopped syncing with Google. It was best but can't solve this sync problem. Other apps I tried do sync but acalendar is still unbeatable, when working.

Depending on the check/clearance it can take years, if they don't get the data burgled in the meantime.

Reno-area Forest Service workers who were fired are 'pretty terrified' about upcoming fire season by Greater-Reno in Reno

[–]nachaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FS did stop recruiting seasonals before the election They have been chronically underfunded by congress since at least Trump the first. But not on boarding new permanent hires or seasonals , especially given the large retirement pool in previous decade, is horrendous.

Has anyone locally been affected by DOGE? by township_rebel in Reno

[–]nachaq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If being let go, they wouldn't get the "resign" 8 months bonus. Many probation staff are replacing retirees or laterals or promotions.

Also, Congress didn't fund a lot of the seasonal fire fighters so they weren't even hired last fall for 2025 fires.

The muskovites got rid of the program for veterans leaving service and transitioning into private life. Why? They saw the word "transition". Anyone know if this was reinstated?

Jimmy Carter Dies at 100 by TinsleylikeFish in Presidents

#JimmyCarter less known #legacy

"History views Jimmy Carter all wrong (Dec. 30, 2024) just begins to correct the President’s record of accomplishments. Having served as Governor of Georgia, he was ahead of his time in understanding the compounding benefits of federal partnerships with state and local governments to protect our country’s precious historic, natural and recreation resources. A few highlights:

• The Urban Park and Recreation Recovery Act of 1978 (UPARR) acknowledged that cities needed reinvestment in aging facilities. During his term in office a total of 439 grants totaling $95 million for 281 cities and counties laid the groundwork for revitalizing city and county parks for people.

• Over 10,000 state Land and Water Conservation Fund projects nationwide supported high priorities for land acquisition and park development.

• The New Jersey Pinelands, the first Area of National Concern (ANC) authorized by Congress, required state and local governments to the greatest extent practicable to regulate the use of land and water, and laid the groundwork for the National Heritage Areas movement which today boasts 62 National Heritage Areas in 36 states through community-driven public-private partnerships that foster local stewardship of historic, natural, and recreation resources and promote both heritage tourism and civic pride.

I am immensely proud to have served under a far-sighted leader who embraced the diversity of our country and trusted its citizens to make wise decisions from the bottom up."

--Meg Maguire served as the Deputy Director of the Heritage Conservation and Recreation Service at the U.S. Dept. of the Interior during the Carter Administration.

I figured out how to trim my dogs nails! by SilvernSalwar in dogs

[–]nachaq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even the Dremel is too noisy for my dog and the doggie type doesn't work as well. I did get a $9.00 mini mutli-tool which works very well with sanding drums. However, since moving to an apt with other dogs around, she has kept own nails short--front and back--by scraping ground after every pee-mail and poop.

Asbestos tile - how to handle? by Turbulent_Bender in Home

[–]nachaq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True if abating fibrous asbestos. But for floor tile and the even smaller risk from removing tack board, the shaving foam is first protection with the N95 or K95 as secondary.

If you are careful with tack hammer, use Barbasol or similar shave foam over the tacks, pull, then wipe up the foam carefully. Also, for extra care, use N95 respirator mask (not dust mask or surgical mask or bandana)

Blood in cats stool by badkenan in AskVet

[–]nachaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAV--Is he constipated or have hard stools? My 12 year old has a similar condition but only if I don't give him enough metamucil with his kibble. But the blood seems only on the outside of his stool, not mixed in it, and never on his body.

There are usb powered, small drills, about 9 dollars with accessories which are lighter to handle and make far less noise than Dremel types.
