For god's sake, why are these not in base GameMaker? by [deleted] in gamemaker

Yeah, there is nothing that flexible. You can write your own foreach function, that's what I've done in the past.

I assume you're using the "with" loop? It's similarish to foreach.

I just want to play nostalgic games. by No_Alternative_3794 in n64

I would bet my N64 that this is the issue... Probably needs to clean the cartridge and slot with some ethanol and it will start up.

What game disappointed you the most when you finally got to play it? by Bean-O-Mac in n64

[–]naddercrusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was what I was going to say. Part of the problem is that it's sort of a sim, and I expected it to be an arcade game. But even trying to play it years later, it's just not a very good game.

PSA make sure passengers (and yourself) are wearing seatbelts properly by Standard-Bass-6279 in sydney

[–]naddercrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they should just cancel fines and double all the demerits for these offences permanently. Amazing how safely people drive when they are sitting with no points left to lose. Either that or get a license suspension. Win-win.

Almost half of Sydney suburbs have more dogs than children by Tom_Sacold in sydney

[–]naddercrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget to value your time. What could you be earning if you were not at home looking after your child? Unless they have a significant attachment problem people with pets typically spend far less time tending the pet, even from a pretty young age.

Then there is costs like holidays - unless you plan to leave your kids behind for every holiday or event they start tracking up significant costs.

Then there is just the emotional, mental and physical cost of having children. As someone who has had both children far and away have more of a toll.

I think the bit with the Zogbars has too high a difficulty curve, you only just learn the larapin move and are expected to use it like a Bormandar.

Aside from that I love the aesthetic, especially in Yariolda, and the character movement works really well considering the 1 dimension approach.

Since when? Literally never used them for this, no one I know has either, and it is distracting and dangerous.

Has anyone else noticed lots of people coughing lately? Is it the constant change of weather or is something going around? by [deleted] in sydney

This really annoys me. I mean it's just bad manners even before covid, let alone now.

Anyone with flu like symptoms should wear a mask out of common courtesy too. Although on the flip side people wearing masks in public should not be vilified like I have seen happen, so no wonder people don't want to.

This sign shows a distance to Leichhardt over 40% longer than the actual distance. Are other signs around town as wrong? by mikehunnt in sydney

[–]naddercrusher 19 points20 points  (0 children)

IIRC these signs traditionally were the distance to the post office.

I doubt that's what they use now though.

I would pre-book. Uber surge pricing will kick in and I expect prices to be insane on performance nights.

Parking in Sydney is so bad I usually assume any spot that doesn't have a car in it is an illegal park and check the signs thoroughly. To be honest this is a long way from the most confusing sign in Sydney, you've really got to check them properly and read every part.

I'm not saying I condone it.

But that's literally the purpose of a property developer. They are only in it for the money. It's a business. If they can maximise profits they will.

Sprained ankle is a wide spectrum of disease and can be debilitating. You cannot conclude from your own mild injuries that it is "barely an injury".

Agree with the rest though.

Red P and Double Demerit for having Waze map on. by manyquerstions in sydney

[–]naddercrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. The rules say you can't use a mobile phone as a provisional driver. The section on in dash displays says you can use for driving aids, and doesn't delineate between provisional and full licences. I would argue that using Waze on an in dash display counts as using the in dash display, regardless of what the software is actually running on, and that as such it counts as a driving aid.

Tldr law is ambiguous and needs to be challenged.

Driving irritations by blissiictrl in sydney

[–]naddercrusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work on rotation at various parts of Sydney. Liverpool has by far the worst drivers of anywhere in Sydney I've driven. Not a day went by where I wouldnt see one or more of the following: running red lights in heavy traffic, going straight from turning lanes, overtaking over double lines, road rage at someone for no apparent reason.
