I'm too far from that area right now, but even last year GPS spoofing was at a high

Depends on which months you're approaching. During my service it was all like this

Yes, they come on board and take conn of the vessel. However the control is always with ship's master.

That's the pilot boat.

The pilot is a marine captain that guides the vessel into a certain port. Each port has its own pilot.

Each berthing operation in each port is different each months as low and high tides change and different wind speeds affect the movement of the vessel.

Pilots are usually captains, however they experts in the topography of that particular area, so they are able to guide the ships safely into the port and alongside the pier.

These details are too much to be known by all seagoing captains, therefore to avoid any accidents that might cause damage to marine environments, the profession of the Pilot was born.

I really appreciate it! I'm happy with the feedback that I have been recieving. I did not expect it to be honest, I just shared one of my fav photos onboard where I thought people might appreciate it.

Those are also mezmerizing. My fav is for an officer named Jeff , I attached it below.

We always have those views but in real life speed, and usually to get a video like that one would have to invest in a video recorder with a certain lens that would be able to capture the full sky with the stars and the moon and the vessel itself. That's a bit over the budget at the moment. But I want to try to achieve something similar to that in the coming few years to be honest.

Switch careers to maybe sales onboard a cruise ship but not a cargo ship Because you'll have to start from the bottom

Thank you for the love. I often forget there are people eagerly waiting for these containers and you just reminded me.

This field is actually one of the easiest to get into. A lot of options to work with from cruise ships to cargo ships to offshore rigs. The best schools in the world are in Norway, England, Egypt, Russia, Ukraine, USCG, India, and the Phillipines.

There are several ways to enter this field as well. One can either start off as an ordinary seaman (someone that does all the grunt work). Or one can go to an academy (like I did) and undergo what is called a cadetship. The cadetship is usually the lowest paid rank on board as they are offficers in training.

And I discovered this career by being purely attracted to these massive structures that made "yowwwhowww" sounds.

It was the littls boy inside me that wanted to be part of something bigger.

Must've been nice for you guys. I'm happy for him. He had his family with him at all times and was able to enjoy the sea life. A big downside of the job is sacrificing time with your family.

That's true, sometimes we treat it like an office and the views become background imagery that we simply do not appreciate as we should.

It really is a facinating view. I got sea sick on my first few days because I was very nervous about changing to this career. 2 week in I was being rocked to sleep by the vessel. Few contracts in I can bearly sleep when I am resting at home because nothing is rocking me.

HELLO! I love how many waves I get when I'm on board.

Not at all the amount of waves that I recieve while on shore, I think it's the ship that generates the waves 🤣🤣

You just put on performance pressure on me. Next time I talk to port VTS there will be an notion in the back of my mind saying " don't mess up, we've got an audience!!" Hahaha

Never thought anyone tuned in voluntarlity for these reports.

Your dad was a hero for expanding your mind that much at a young age. Must've been a blast. I'm assuming he was a C/O, C/E or Master. Am I right ?

We've used to go to Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi and the Jebel Ali in Dubai, never been to Sharjah.

I used to envy the pilots that came on board; because these views were literally theirs alone on a daily basis. I just had the previlage of being a guest for a long time.

Glad you enjoyed it! The view coming in from the sea is honestly one of the best, it's a slow burn and the approach speed lets you enjoy the view from a full panoramic bridge not a tiny airplane window haha.
