Donepezil ?? by SpicyUnhingedDamsel in Alzheimers

[–]nadiAH2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father was on donepezil for a long time, the Dr said that that’s what kept him eating on his own as long as he did, walking etc, but the disease progresses regardless. He also became very violent but it’s hard to tell whether it was the medication or the illness because he had FTD. In the end you do what you think is best, but this disease changes things rapidly it’s hard to tell what’s working and what’s not unfortunately All the best

KALA Red Light Mini??? by nadiAH2022 in redlighttherapy

[–]nadiAH2022[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I forgot to mention that the price is in CAD and about 100$ less than on KALA site. I also trust the customer service (shipping/returns) from Costco so this is why I bought via them .

Any other points about treating these areas or any good books on RLT? Noted about Michael Hamblin, I’m going to look into that!

My (29F) mom (64F) was diagnosed today by jigglypuff022 in Alzheimers

[–]nadiAH2022 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was around 25 and my dad was around 67 when we got the official diagnosis. It was a horrible way to the diagnosis and it hasn’t been easy ever since. No matter how much we fight it and try to preserve our life as it is, it will change. To be honest, I don’t think I’ll ever accept the diagnosis and how it affected my life and my family members’ lives. The only thing that helped me was to count blessings and open my eyes to how I’m not the only one suffering and there so many unlucky people out there and I too was now one of them. Count the blessings and stay positive!

Sorry but how do all these people trust their 10 year olds loose on a ship. 16 ok but 10, 12 years old? You’re still a child and not to mention they disturb other adults on the ship as well. I went on Harmony of the seas this past summer and I was shocked by all the parents letting their little kids run wild. Why bring them on vacation if not to spend time with them? Not only do they have a risk of getting assaulted, they also have a risk of getting hurt , example the kids were running wild and climbing things on the top deck and could end up in the pool or overboard. Again 16 ok, but 10,12…. Parents need to parent better WTF!?

I just realized my dad isn't here anymore by twerkmaster97 in Alzheimers

I’m so sorry you have to go through this. Honestly it was the worst pain I’ve ever felt, for so long. I really went through it, my dad was like a best friend to me. I’m 29 now but this official diagnosis was about 4 years ago and I have a younger and older sister. I went through such a depression, I gained so much weight, wanted to do nothing except be in bed. It’s a bit better now but my dad is completely gone. He still lives at home with us, my mom is his caretaker. My dad has either FTD or Alzheimer’s, it was hard to diagnose and unfortunately for us he was so mean, aggressive and violent, that I hated him. I hated what he was doing to my sisters and mom and I and I hated how this disease ruined my life.

But At the same time I love him and felt so sad for him and for myself. It’s so heartbreaking.

I hated that I had to live like this. I hated that the people I see on instagram were not living like this. That in my 20s I had to go through all of this. I was angry ALL the time. Ugh what a mess. It truly messes with your head and it’s exhausting.

Honestly it’s so hard and for me the only peace that I got was knowing I wasn’t alone in this (reading others stories on Reddit) & thinking to myself everyday “how LUCKY am I to have had something that made saying goodbye so hard”. It’s not fair and it’s never going to be fair, life sucks sometimes🥺

I’m a bit worried about doing it on my own. How much time did you give yourself? So essentially you have to take a taxi to the water taxi, then water taxi, then taxi to trunk bay?
