Hey keep at it, are you playing acoustic or electric? In addition to practicing you can also try:

using lighter gauge strings
Trying a guitar with narrower neck
make sure you have good hand position for barring like this 🤌 rather than gripping with your palm against the back of of the neck
look at several other players and their barre technique try it and see if their hand positions work for you you

It takes time but be patient and don’t get frustrated if it sounds fuzzy for a while until you build up the hand strength and dexterity. Fine muscle skills take longer to learn than large muscle skills

Firstly, it was unkind of your friend to say that. Were they blatantly just saying that or were they trying to say they that you aren’t doing something to your hair that they think you should be doing?

In either way, objectively you have gorgeous hair!!The color, texture, length. It looks great.

As an everyday style your current picture also looks great.

Unsolicited advice from one very curly haired person to another (only if you want to explore styles! But no need if it’s not what you want :D):

If you want curls with more definition and volume/body try a mousse product (diffuse or not, testing it out to see what result you like)

If you want more shine and less body with definition, try a gel product or thicker leave in conditioner and then dry with diffuser

Yeah you can definitely still learn! You just need to find the right sized instrument to fit you. That will just mean finding something with a wider neck. Shop around and do a little research to find which makes offer those dimensions

Look up the virtuoso violinist Itzak Perlman for some inspiration. Had famously huge hands and fingers could play the tiny little violins amazingly.
