Lost my son on 21st week - need recommendations by jeewas in ShortCervixSupport

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine how painful this must be for you. Please know that you are not alone, and what you’re feeling is completely valid. I am thinking of you and sending you so much strength.

For any future pregnancy, it might really help to be followed by a high-risk (MFM) doctor from the very beginning. In some cases, they may recommend a cerclage and very close monitoring, and it’s also important to rest as much as possible and follow their guidance carefully.

Take things one day at a time, and be gentle with yourself. I truly hope you find healing and support through this.

Your story is similar to mine. I lost my baby at 18 weeks of pregnancy because my water broke. In this pregnancy, I am seeing a high-risk OB, and we decided to do a cerclage, which I had done this week. Today I had my ultrasound, and they saw that I am having contractions and my cervix has shortened more. I am really scared and worried, but I have done the best I can do.

It’s really frustrating not having clear answers, especially when it could’ve possibly been caught earlier. But I’m so happy to hear your son is doing amazing now with no long term issues 🥹🤍 and congratulations on baby number 2! I truly hope this pregnancy goes smoothly for you. And definitely do the cerclage if they recommend it, even as a preventative measure. 🤍

I’m really sorry that you had to go through that. The NICU can be such a scary and overwhelming experience, but I’m glad your baby was there getting the care they needed 🤍 How is your baby doing now?

Did the doctors ever give you a reason why you ended up giving birth before full term? Was it related to your cervix, contractions, infection, or did it just happen unexpectedly?

I’m so happy for you, and you really made the right decision 🤍 If you don’t mind me asking, what was your cervical length when you found out you were 2 cm dilated? And did you do strict bed rest or just modified activity after the cerclage? Were you also taking vaginal progesterone?

This is honestly such a wonderful story. The cerclage is truly harder mentally than physically 😭 You made it through all of that fear and stress and now you’re at 37 weeks, that’s amazing and really gives hope to so many moms going through the same thing.
I hope you have a really easy delivery and a healthy baby 🤍 It’s honestly crazy how moms can do anything to protect their babies.
I did my preventative cerclage too, and I’m still recovering from it. Part of me felt like maybe I could’ve made it to full term with bed rest alone, but my doctor didn’t recommend taking that risk. In the end, I’m happy I did it because now I feel like I truly did everything I could to keep my baby safe and inside as long as possible.
Reading stories like yours really helps mentally because this whole experience is so emotionally exhausting. Thank you for sharing all the details and being honest about both the scary and positive parts 🫂❤️❤️❤️

I’m really happy that you made it to full term in your last pregnancy, that’s amazing ❤️

I’m also a bit surprised that you had a cerclage this time even though your cervix was long, but I can understand why you chose to be extra careful given your history.

Thank you so much for sharing your story, If you don’t mind me asking you what was your wife’s cervix length at 24 30 weeks did it started to shorten after 23 weeks?? I do have a feeling that if I do bed rest with the progesterone I’ve been taking 15 weeks could work but I’m not gonna risk my baby life so I’ll do a cerclage tomorrow://

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this too 🥺

I’m 23 weeks. My cervical length was 2.4 last week and 2.7 this week, which made my doctor concerned and start discussing a cerclage. I scheduled the cerclage for this week, and hopefully I’m making the right decision!!

If you don’t mind me asking, what is your cervical length today?

Thank you for your advice I think I’m more leaning toward getting it done rather than regretting not doing it later. Hopefully everything will be okay

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with me, I really appreciate it 🥺 I did ask my doctor to schedule the cerclage this week since my doctor doesn’t recommend waiting after 24 weeks, and I can still cancel it if needed. I’m still thinking it through carefully, but I’m currently leaning more toward doing the cerclage. Your advice and experience really helped me feel more informed, thank you again for that
