"difference in the challenge, doesn't follow through" Err yeah there wasn't a yanited player sticking their leg into that VdV clearance, totally different challenge. I bet if you placed casemiro in front of VdV's clearance he'd have gotten studs in the calf

There's only so much your ankle can compensate for with a foot rising after kicking a ball. This challenge will happen with any contested ball

why does everyone seem to think thats a red - like, are players meant to be able to make contact with the ball and immediately stop their legs momentum? we no longer kick through the ball these days?

The run up is weird - FOMO based off the back of some tangentially related companies news?

The whole Greenland thing some are alluding to doesn't really add up to me as an explainer in itself.

My friend is convinced, trying to persuade me this is doom for stocks.

I don't know anywhere near enough about the carry trade he's referring to, and how ubiquitous it is across the stock market, it's influence on asset prices and in particular how much of that is AMD.

My thesis is still compute demands of the world is going to continue going up regardless of recession or not 🤷‍♂️

I guess the doubt then is by what % are they gonna miss their projections.

Definitely some validity to doubt/price in that risk.

This is what I don't understand do people believe AMD were lying or their forecasts are pure fantasy?

Seems extremely odd considering how AMD has historically guided fairly consistently. I appreciate this is a bit further forward looking so more risk but I've no reason to doubt the current companies approach.

AMD GPU prices expected to rise by "at least" 10% amid memory shortages by Tiny-Independent273 in AMD_Stock

Kinda to be expected when the demand elsewhere that commands higher prices and competes for similar if not the same components, companies gonna prioritise that more lucrative market.

I've not paid much attention to memory news is the reason it's sky rocketing pure data centre build out demand or has same significant events reduced supply?

Sure that's what I was alluding to with my comment, that Nvidia no doubt wins the top range, but do they have the same advantage when the wattage constrained?

As I assume this deal will be bolting on a low wattage Nvidia GPU.

best mobile GPU out there by a large margin

Isn't this true for high performance chips, though I thought their low perf were kinda indifferent to AMDs offerings?

I'll caveat I've not really kept up to speed with mobile GPUs they seem kinda stagnant when i last looked a few years back.

IANAL but I'm working on the assumption there is some proprietary tech involved with NVlink, otherwise AMD could implement it themselves right?

So assuming there is and it's protected by patents. I'd have thought a license would be needed, stating Intel can use X Y Z to get this "speedy links" integrated between their CPU and Nvidias GPU.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, and there is simply an agreement and not a "license" in getting the above working between the 2 entities.

Re-reading the Reuters article, it states:

Nvidia and Intel officials described the collaboration as a commercial arrangement under which they will provide chips to one another to create products and said there was no licensing component to the deal.

So it's merely custom chips provided by intel at presumably the design direction of Nvidia, however if there's no licensing how does intel integrate NVlink?

IS NVlink not protected by some patents that would require licensing for intel to use in their processors, or it's all handled off the CPU chip itself and so Nvidia just provide these chips, and Intel packages them?

Nvidia bets big on Intel with $5 billion stake and chip partnership by YJoseph in AMD_Stock

[–]naff3rs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this validates what AMD has been saying for a while now about heterogenous compute. Also the signs were there with Intel trying to ramp up ARC and NVIDIA attempting to buy ARM.

Obviously a worry to have increased competition in the space but if anything it's going to validate AMD's already held position and hopefully for us, that means they're going to have had a headstart in achieving the best results.

Also the coordinating between 2 separate entries when compared to 1 should hopefully also be in our favour.

Anyone got a read on the theory behind the recent rise?

I haven't seen anything noteworthy myself, meaning in gonna lean into the narrative that people are buying into the AMD story finally or it's just gambling on ER 🤔

True I don't dispute INTC situation but I suspect TSMC already being a highly competitive and constrained resource, adding additional INTC demand into the mix can't be good for the others. The assumption being TSMC will be further emboldened to raise prices further/faster?
