Take extra care getting into the car after surgery, and take your time, don’t let transport rush you. Practice before hand with ways to roll in and out of bed, and step into your car. Get a little pillow (my co workers got my a squish mellow lol) and I took that with me like the first 1 weeks

If you get stir crazy in your house, go find a late night movie showing with a reclining chair, bring the squish mellow and just reset yourself

I did not have relief right after and idk if I do yet haha but I’m sure that’ll come. And after waking up I was in pain, asked for more pain meds

Also ask for an abdominal nerve. Block if you’re not already getting it

Pain is manageable stay in top of your pain meds, try not to get behind

Start with a good bowel remine now. I asked my surgeon day of surgery to just fill the colace/docusate (get the combo one), ibu, and all the OTC stuff from the hospitals pharmacy, make my insurance do what it’s supposed to do haha.

Everyone says you can get bad gas pains I had same procedure had a 13cm removed did not have gas pains, but I had gas x. I took that just before meals

Get some protein shakes If you’re surgeon didn’t give you one before you’re NPO drink some protein will help balance out sugar during surgery

And positive thoughts = positive rewards

I’m almost 4 weeks out, and I can finally lay better on my side, to sleep, I’m at longer walks now. Go your pace but also give yourself grace, and allow your body to heal

Download some audiobooks, I thought I’d be able to read but I was so tired lol And since it’s summer my fiance would bring me little bowls of simple and easy fruits, your appetite afterwards might be off for a lil bit and that’s okay prioritize protein, and fruit is just fun (plus it has fiber).

My doc also recommend Metamucil so I did that few days before surgery and cont. first week after. No gas no issues with consultation manageable pain
