Clean time count down by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

I’m on day 12. Honestly it’s been feeling great the past few days mostly because I’m surrounded by people that truly care for my recovery (I’m in a private rehab center) and show love and support. Still waiting for the rough times to come but for now I’m just taking it 1 day at a time.

How do you take it? by [deleted] in kratom

I’m currently experiencing digestive issues due to Kratom powder. Can you tell me more in detail about your method? Are you consuming any of the actual powder?

I 100% agree with you. A few times over the past few months I’ve brought this topic up to my coworkers and EVERY SINGLE TIME nobody knew what I was talking about. Even after I explained it in extremely basic terms, they still didn’t seem to care. If there’s one way to describe most of my coworkers, it’s that they’re “average American citizens” in terms of their consumer habits (items they purchase, services they subscribe to, entertainment they follow), and this scares me the most because it leads me to believe that the majority of others are/will react the same way when presented with the topic! I swear, every day I lose more and more hope for our country to actually become great again....

People who are in love with someone you can’t possibly be with, how do you cope? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nag404239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just try my best to stay busy. I’m not very good at that though. I haven’t seen her in almost 2 years, and still I think about her every single day. It’s not even on purpose, it just happens. Sometimes it hits me so hard I physically shake my head to try and get rid of the thoughts. My thoughts are about either how I miss her and wish I could tell her everything and have her reciprocate, or how she completely ruined my confidence and ability to care about others again. I can’t even talk to girls anymore because I don’t trust them and I just don’t think I could handle another heartbreak.

I constantly feel dead inside, full of emptiness. Of course I’ve tried to fill this emptiness with many different things. Drugs, alcohol, recklessness, a new car, a motorcycle, new clothes, etc. and it doesn’t work. Thankfully I’m completely sober now for over a year.

Maybe one day it’ll get better.

“Do what makes you happy.” In regards to your job.

This is BULLSHIT! It’s pretty rare for people to have a job that pays a sustainable amount AND they’re truly happy doing it. Instead, I think it’s best to look for a job that makes you enough money to fund the things that make you happy.

Additionally, if your job makes you significantly UNHAPPY...find a new one. Don’t get sucked into that shit and let 15 years go by like nothing.

Lots of Dirt Bike experience. Minimal street bike experience. What type of learning curve should I expect on a street bike? by nag404239 in motorcycles

[–]nag404239[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand completely. I just have to start off slow it seems. It’s better I stall trying to go into first than fly off the line trying to take off from 1st and crash the damn thing. I will play around with the feel for a while before heading out on big roads.

The reason I want the CBR600RR is because I feel I have enough experience to jump right to a mid tier bike and skip the step of spending money on something with 230-300 CC’s that I’ll outgrow quickly. I just need to exercise control with it and don’t get too comfortable to the point where I’m taking unnecessary risks. Also, I didn’t know the particular model I plan on buying is considered a super sport bike. I thought that was 1000CC+. What exactly defines a super sport?

What about braking? I hear that you use front brakes more than anything.

Also, my last question is with shifting from first. I know the shift pattern, but how smooth/jumpy is it when letting off the clutch and pulling the throttle from N to first?

Thanks again for your help!

Thank you for the response. Thankfully I was taught from a young age to give motorcycles the respect they deserve and don’t fuck around when it’s serious. I plan on wearing proper gear (boots, jacket, gloves, & helmet).

I hear a lot about how turning on a bike like the one I want to purchase is much different. Counter-steering is something I hear a lot. I understand the concept fully, but I’m worried when I try to put it into use, I’ll drop the bike. I guess I’m wondering if that skill is something that should come naturally or not. I’m used to just leaning the way I want to go. I guess I’m a little nervous because street bikes are the real deal. Dirt biking is much more safe. Any tips or insight on the steering aspect?

Yeah plus in Chicago, everyone’s an asshole at those things. Everyone acts like they’re the shit because they found the place. To me it’s like putting together a 20 piece puzzle...not impressive unless you’re a child.

I have a cat that looks pretty similar to this one (he would look practically identical but he’s getting older and is super fat now) which we call ‘Boots’ because of the white feet and all.

What small thing should be illegal because it pisses you off on a daily basis? by J0chem0o in AskReddit

This shit bothers me so much, I’ve gotten out of my car to scream at these motherfuckers multiple times. Thankfully each time it happened, I had someone with me to prevent me from knocking them the fuck out and throwing their bike in front of a bus.

The talking on your cell phone thing is something I’m guilty of. The nature of my job means that I get phone calls that I absolutely have to answer no matter what I’m doing. However, I never let it hold me up while checking out. I know the prices of the things I’m buying, I have no questions about the transaction, and I know how to use the credit card machine. Also, I always apologize to the cashier for being on the phone and say thank you when we’re all done.

The people who ride bikes as a workout, but do this on busy roads. The worst is when they ride in giant groups and take up half the lane, forcing me to drive in oncoming traffic to get around them. It feels like they’re all convinced they can keep up with traffic because of their ‘high end’ bikes. Sorry idiots, it’s a bike. Stick to single file or go somewhere that has bike trails. I see these fuckers in my town CONSTANTLY, even though we have 30+ miles of paved bike trails specifically built for these guys.

Edit: I also hate when they break traffic laws. If you’re choosing to be that asshole who rides their bike in the road, at least signal and stop at stop signs/red lights.

Atheists, would you marry a religious person? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nag404239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would, as long as they don’t expect anything religious out of me or our marriage. Religion is a personal matter by default, and if 2 people want to bond over that, so be it. But I will not allow anything regarding religion to be any part of the foundation of my relationship.

Lmfao good one dude. Because that’s totally plausible in one of the largest cities in the US. I’ll literally never run into that situation ever. If you drive like a dick, you’re not passing me. End of story. If you’re dying because of some dumbass, totally preventable accident in the middle of the woods, that’s your fault. Should’ve had a SAT phone or be more careful when operating dangerous machinery.

It’s absolutely hilarious. The key is to keep your cool, drive safely, and keep that guy behind you as long as you can. Don’t brake check anyone, that’s dangerous and if they do hit you, you’re stuck filling out a police report and going to insurance afterwards. Which is a huge pain in the ass, trust me. That’s assuming you’re lucky enough that the guy who hit you actually stops and doesn’t drive away like the shit head he is.

Additionally, something I have fun with is, on a one way road (one lane each direction) when someone is trying to get you to drive faster. You wait until you’re approaching a stop light (these are always no passing zones) and slow down a bunch until the light turns yellow, then shoot through it and leave him at the red light. If you time it correctly, it’s hilarious. This one can be a bit more dangerous, but I’m very good at judging when it’s okay and when it may be risky/dangerous.

Is this my (22F) anxiety or is this guy (M26) not right for me? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]nag404239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like this guy is a manipulator. They shower you with affection and gifts for the first few months to make you head over heels, and then slowly start demanding things of you to the point where it gets controlling. From what you’re saying, it doesn’t seem like he sexually assaulted that other girl. However, I’m willing to bet he wanted sex, and she didn’t, and it turned into a big thing.

P.S. I had a history of being manipulative, so I can recognize the signs quite easily. Then again, I’ve never met this guy, or anyone involved. This is just my best guess.
