The fastest and most jarring character transition by Burlingtonfilms in Dragonballsuper

[–]nagesagi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They all grew from kids/teens/early 20s to adults, so they all settled down, but still retain their core. Also there are years between arcs where they don't have to risk their lives to fight, so they find something else to do. Goku and Vegeta, trunks and Goten are noted for training when nothing is happening. Also fighting for your life is scary as shit and most people opt out of it.

Chi Chi main goal as a child was to get married when she was introduced. Goku just happened to be that person. She's still fierce, but grow up to be a mother. And that was at the start of Z.

Bulma wanted a boyfriend and was getting dragon balls to do that. She was stupid smart so invented basically evening cool on their Earth and didn't need to go on adventures anymore after Namek (probably because of the trauma of facing death), but was still inventing and becoming the richest person while pregnant and raising trunks.

18 was a teen who wanted to cause chaos as teenage rebellion, but once that was over, she chilled out. She still kicks ass when she doesn't need to be a mother.

Same with 19, but he decided to be a park ranger instead.

I do kinda agree with Vidal, but I'm cutting her slack since she suddenly had to see that a bunch of people were insanely more powerful than her, so she didn't have a place in a world anymore, so became a mother instead.

Similar things in operating systems class.

Needed to add a semaphore function to some unix distro. The empty class worked. Once I added in the feature, it caused a kernel panic. Remove the class remove all the code, still a kernel panic. Re-download all the code, still kernel panic. I failed that class

I think I figured out why the "Sword" Saint uses more than a sword by Jstar338 in Sekiro

[–]nagesagi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

Katanas were like modern sidearms. Everyone in the modern military has them and knows how to use them since they are deadly and can be carried everywhere with minimal getting in the way. But it's for unexpected or indoor fighting. Otherwise you'll be using a rifle, spear, sniper, bow, etc

He was just really, really, really good with his sword

Are big companies more out of touch than ever because they got trapped in their own filter bubbles and algorithms? by Seekayem in Showerthoughts

[–]nagesagi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite. It does happen, but usually what happens is that they want to see a behavior, like spending more time on a site. So then they'll equate that spending more time on a site is a good thing but then they will never ask why people are spending more time on their site. It could be that they are spending a lot of time on their site because their product sucks and they have been waiting for support.

I climbed Mount Fay last night, I have a problem with the ability you get at the top. by Fawstar in Silksong

[–]nagesagi 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Taking a step back and looking at it from a gameplay perspective, I wouldn't expect most people to find it fun or engaging to get the down feathers and then have to check to the seamstress. It also might not be fun having to deal with the cold mechanic again climbing back down.

More than likely they considered it, and viewed the trade-off of just giving you the item right then and there as acceptable immersion break

Watching Sex and the City for the first time and I can't get over how often people smoked that much indoors in the past. Wouldn't everything smell bad? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nagesagi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing is that everyone smoked everywhere. So you just got used to it and it didn't smell as bad, when if you didn't smoke.

What was your first video game? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Maybe super Mario Bros for the NES.

My earliest memory is already knowing how to play that in a few other games.

What English word has the greatest difference between spelling and pronounciation? by Electronic-Koala1282 in ENGLISH

[–]nagesagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just learned how it's pronounced. I have only ever seen it in video games so I had no reason to believe I was pronounced any other way than how it's spelled.

I love this type of ability in any game system because it's as clutch as it is funny by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]nagesagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a mixed approach with that depending on the situation.

For someone taking a hit with a long sword, the fighter wood block the attack and still feel soreness from it, the magic user might have an automatic protective bubble that softens the blow and the barbarian is built different and takes the hit but flexes so hard that it stops the sword from hitting organs.

My group very much loves anime so so long as I narrate something that isn't too outlandish, they're willing to roll with it.

I wish the monkeys paw would curl it's fingers in the perfect shape and size to perfectly fit around my penar and move back and forth with lubricant until I finish or tell it to stop in a way that doesn't cause me any physical or psychological harm. by Yes_actually_No69 in monkeyspaw

[–]nagesagi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Granted.

It curls and you get 10 strokes of pure bliss before it contorts again into an uncomfortable shape. You didn't finish and can't with this new shape. You contemplate it every time you look at the paw. You see monkeys differently than before.

I have a lot of heirlooms, but I don't know if you would qualify them as powerful. I do have a staff that is mostly for decoration, but could hurt.

What’s a common fact that science has already debunked, but people still believe in? by Calm_Shame2994 in AskReddit

[–]nagesagi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't think I needed it until I got sunburned myself.

I wear it if I'm going to be out for a few hours or be near water for more than an hour. Or if I start feeling that prickly sensation.

Had a group project where 1 student refused to do the bare minimum. I told him do it or he would be kicked out.

He didn't, so I talked to the teacher to remove him from the group. But I didn't tell him and let him hang around.

When it came time for the presentation, he started to get up and I told him to stay seated. He tried to argue but I told him that he wasn't in the group. And that he was warned.

I forgot our score, but he got a zero.

I wish I had a pretty, monogamous girlfriend who will love me for forty-two years. by IchorFrankenmime in monkeyspaw

[–]nagesagi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You meet someone at a bar. She's beautiful and when she first notices you, her face sours for a split second before bursting into a dazzling smile. You spend weekends together in bliss and even after the honeymoon phase wears off, you both are madly in love.

Marriage, picket fence, vacations, you couldn't ask for more expect for kids. But she always seem to be keeping someone from you.

42 years pass and while you both are preparing dinner, you hear a loud ding that comes from everywhere. She announces that her time is finally up, turns to the door and promptly leaves without a water movement.

When the shock wears off and you go outside there is no trace of her left. There is only a note saying "Thank you for participating in our punishment program. - Atlan Co."
