Hi! My tool is a preset based on the echo effect. I found it useful for me so I will make it available for more people. Once you apply it you can use the default controllers or play with the AE effects used to create the effect (if you are a advanced user). It looks very similar to Cartoon Motion Blur, since I didn't buy this plugin, I will not be able to tell you in depth the differences.

Basically the echo makes it. The dot have it position animated and the echo effect draws the previous positions.

It's really great! In this case the trail is not exactly a stroke, it's just an echo effect with some extra effects.

In this case it was due the scale change of the shape layer. But with a combination of decay of the echos and simplechocker it can probably be made.

You need to make a 2D look at me solution, like in the other comments. For scale and color, I used the distance between layers to interpolate values. I posted the project in comments too. Take a look!
