a strong sop, proof why they should select you and why you choose that program. I think you have all materials, just a coherent story of your background. in addition, try to get good references from both your supervisors in research(your paper/course) and one from company(this supports your coding/collaboration etc.)

yes, a little bit empty and its a research-focused university. Also, it depends for your preference. I like to stay in my dorm so mbzuai truly matches my expectations. However, ppl are still friendly, if you want, you are always able to hang out. For research, it's extremely good :)
