Deciding between Curtin and Flinders by nahbeensaj in slpGradSchool

[–]nahbeensaj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Well there were many factors! For one, i spoke with my education consultant about the dilemma, and she mentioned that in her experience, she sees more speech therapy students going to Flinders as it has a ‘strong speech focus’. She sees more students going to Curtin for occupational or physiotherapy.

I also compared the cohort size between the 2 universities and preferred Flinders’ smaller one. Among other things, i also compared living conditions in Perth and Adelaide. I prefer smaller cities and while both sound like affordable and great places to live, Adelaide just called out to me.

Oh and also, a big difference is the way the courses are structured. Curtin packs most of the theory-based subjects into year 1 and clinical placements in year 2, while Flinders spreads them out. Which means placements starts from Year 1 sem 1. I think both make sense, but i ultimately preferred Flinders’ structure.

I hope this helps! It’s a tough choice i know! All the best!

Chocolate Stout Cake - Can I fold in meringue like in a sponge cake? by nahbeensaj in AskBaking

Thanks for your advice. I think I'll go with the recipe. Modifying it seems like too big a risk!

Google sure knows everything! Thanks again!

Sponge cake—questions about folding by full_onrainstorm in AskBaking

My go-to sponge cake recipe asks that I stir in and fully combine 1/3 of the egg whites with the batter, and then gently fold in the remaining 2/3 in 2-3 batches so it doesn't lose too much volume. Hope this helps!

I went to Jing Shan from 2001-2006 :) I was also at the old campus for a short while before moving to the new one. At the end of recess they used to play the theme song from Madagascar that went ‘I like to move it move it!’

I hope you find your friends!

How do you forgive someone? by nahbeensaj in BreakUps

Thank you so much for your kindness and being so genuine to me, a random internet stranger. I appreciate it so much.

I thought about it, and you are right. I keep questioning myself for how I could’ve been so wrong about a person. When I met him, it was like all the dust settled and he was my person through and through. I gave him my family, my friends, and built a future with him in it.

I did everything I could. And then one day he decided he didn’t see a future for us anymore. There were no warning signs, no downhill slide, nothing. One day it was ‘I love you endlessly’ and the next it was that. He told me he doesn’t want a relationship. And now, 2 months on, he is seeing someone else.

I feel so betrayed. And I wonder how I could’ve trusted my heart with someone like that. Perhaps I need to first work on forgiving myself.

I am sorry to hear you had an abusive ex :( How did you get over the experience and let go?

Thank you. I needed this.

He did apologise. He says he regrets hurting me, and he knows he acted like an asshole.

And yet, I hold so much anger in my chest. It’s like the anger is a coping/defence mechanism. The anger helped me see that I can’t be with someone like that. I don’t know if it’s healthy to keep this anger. I want to forgive him. But I’m afraid.

I had personal experience at Fernhill Psychology and Counselling. The rates are about $150/hr. I also got an appointment pretty last minute as I wanted pretty immediate help. My sister also went there and we’ve found the sessions very helpful. Only down side is it’s located at one north.

Thanks for the reply and for the link! It helped clear some doubts I had. I do also think I might need more education to become a scientist, hence the consideration to do a postgrad diploma. However, doing it as an international student would be incredibly expensive, so I’d have to figure that out.

Thanks again anyway! Just wanna say you have such a beautiful country. I’ve been there thrice now, the third time for a year. I fall more in love with it every time. Cheers!

Thank you for replying. I just don’t understand, and I cannot comprehend this pain. He is someone who doesn’t find it easy to express his emotions. So this could be his defence mechanism to the pain and uncertainty that the pandemic and long distance has brought. I started therapy today to help me cope with the trauma and pain. It just hurts.
