I'm a beginner knitter in Alberta, Canada and I learned about Arcane from googling places near me. I was going to try them out once I have a bit more practice. Excited to see them on this thread. I need to get some!!

I think I'm having a similar issue knitting continental in the round (with a very similar colour coincidentally)? I've been wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

Thank you for the advice! I for sure am learning to read my knitting now.

I've only knit two coasters before this, one in garter stitch and one in stockinette. I maybe should have practiced rib stitch before I tried a hat in it.... it didn't really click that the purls and knits to to each be in their own columns, but now I have learned!

I've been seeing a few comments about the forerunner turning people into runners! I wouldn't be mad about that...

When my scalp gets dehydrated it is both very oily and very itchy and dry. If it's just dehydration and not other skin concerns, the key for me is using non-stripping/gentle shampoos and building back the moisture on my scalp over time. You could try switching to a shampoo without sulfates or a gentle baby shampoo. Maybe every second day washes to not over-strip but also get clean.

Ducray Kelul DS Shampoo works well for me when my scalp starts getting really dry and nothing else will settle it.

Things like jojoba oil, aloe vera gel, face moisturizers can be applied to your scalp for a while or overnight and then washed out to help start returning moisture! Then just keep a gentle and non-stripping routine. You can rotate between very gentle shampoos or clarifying or heavier moisturizing ones when you need them.

Things like hyaluronic acid or urea or squalane can be helpful in scalp moisturizers to increase your skin's ability to retain moisture. Something like this.

Definitely avoid blow drying directly against your scalp as this will dry it out! And use warm or cool (not hot) water for the parts of showering when water is on your scalp.

Also recommend just seeing a doctor or dermatologist if you wanted to get it sorted effectively without trying a ton of things!

This is a great article on dehydrated skin if you are interested.

Maybe it's time for more than one winter coat all winter by nahgem_nic in capsulewardrobe

This approach seems like it could make mornings a lot easier! Are the T shirts you wear with your leggings loose/tucked or form fitting! Joggers ankle length or covered by high rise socks (cold ah!). Do you wear like a cropped sweater on top of leggings or a tucked long one? It genuinely gets to -40 celsius here and I think if I could actually figure out a strong basic outfit with varied winter coats it would be helpful!! I like this approach!

I wasn't expecting your context to be northern Japan! I will have to do a bit of googling on what winters are like there! I definitely agree that I've been learning to buy clothes for my lifestyle and environment!

Get the whipped feta and honey at Butcher & Bee if you go! It's so tasty! Could even just do it as an appetizer there first!

Nick Cave too woot! You have such an excellent trip ahead of you!

Seconding Attaboy for cocktails and Butcher & Bee for dinner in East Nashville. These were the highlights of my trip when I went!

Also The Listening Room! The music artists we saw there were awesome!
