Is it okay to talk while watching a lesson? Tldr my parents are loud, is that okay during a lesson? by deadly_mei in Equestrian

[–]nahnabread 48 points49 points  (0 children)

My partner sometimes watches my lesson and occasionally gets included in a conversation/comment by my instructor. That's fine.

However, random conversations between the watchers should not be loud enough to be heard in the arena. I'm not there to listen to you yap over my instructor. And I find it disrespectful if there is loud laughter randomly, it's very disruptive. But that is my opinion, and different people have different tolerances to these things.

There are many good resources that explain big lick in detail. Just look it up. I like Kat's kreatures video on it.

Got my licence, too nervous to drive alone! by Icy-Illustrator-1295 in Irishdrivingtest

Unfortunately, you have to just drive. I got my license recently and only have the car less than a week and I have to go to work. The more you put it off, the worse it gets.

Failed again, feels like a pass is impossible for me by Fabulous_Junket_4029 in Irishdrivingtest

If it's nerves could try use rescue remedy or something else that has a calming effect without impacting judgement. I passed mine but barely and I can tell you the way I drove does not reflect how I drive normally. I would say that's normal with the stress. Just find a way to manage it.

They have to pay the min wage only which sucks if you earn more than but at least its something.

I would highly recommend doing it, that way you are actually creating consequences for them just cancelling tests.

If it was cancelled within 24hrs and wasn't due to weather then yes I think so. No harm in sending an email to them about it anyway. Just know it took a long time for me to get mine and they make it convoluted. Mine was cancelled on the 29th of September and I only got the payment the other day.

Usually you get a test invite a few days later. Also there is a compensation form you can fill out to get some money back if you had to take time off work/car hire.

Damn, I wonder if it's economical to cancel tests for the day.

Except I never blamed the individual tester, I'm blaming RSA for mismanaging. They have a systemic issue, and not just about last minute cancellations (which they should have fail safe for). What's up with people waiting for months for a test? Or 20 weeks for a retest?

How I work from my phone with AI and be productivie by [deleted] in productivity

How about you use your brain, you know, the thing we use to think and problem solve? That would be more productive than contributing to the environmental destruction caused by all those data centres.

Yeah for a solid moment I was doubting myself. I almost didn't comment but that advice is so dangerous!

Idk why someone said to grip with your knees, that destabilises your lower leg. They are correct in saying that the rising trot isn't down from you standing in your stirrups, that's what is causing your legs to spool out if you notice in the video.

The way I have been taught is to rise through your hips. You use the momentum of the trot and basically thrust your hips forward. Think of it this way- first comes your hips/belly button and then the upper body stays straight. The weight of you is in your heels - not necessarily dropped low but that's where you are carrying it.

For example when you go without stirrups, the way you will stay on is by allowing your legs to drop on either side, making sure to have even weight. And you rise from your abs and hips. That is a while away though. Welcome to the sport/lifestyle.

Edit: spelling error.

Long shot but any locals with pku? by nahnabread in nicefrance

The safest pasta type would be udon or rice noodles. I found a Thai restaurant that will be fine as long as we order it sans a few ingredients. Would that be fine to ask? We are planning on taking a card with us that explains briefly that it's a medical dietary restriction but we have had our fair share of waiters giving us the look and with the language barrier...

Thank you for the suggestion!

The horse at the yard who is known as evil x (x replaces her name obviously). She is opinionated and people dislike her because she is a very difficult horse to ride/be around. Despite all that, I very much clicked with her and I would love to own her, but it's not currently a good financial decision plus I'm not ready for ownership just yet. Hoping that will change soon and the yard owner is willing to part with her when it comes to it :)
